Started My R6 Swap !!Pics!!

well im doing a complete fairing swap from a 2002 r6
today i started on my 2006 yzf600 tank swap all is going well so far the tank is just siting on top of the bike till i can make some brackets and do some cutting tomorrow


im going to update this thread as new parts go on

my to do list
02 r6 fairings
06 yzf tank
powder coat rims black

things im still undecided on
r6 gauges
r6 swing arm
r6 forks
r6 controls
r6 rearsets

forks are a must if you want it to look right.
I would greatly suggest USD forks (inverted forks)

ya i see what u mean about the forks

and im and cutting up the underside of the tank to fit the stock airbox and re welding it

so i found some more room for the airbox by moveing the velocity stacks 1 more notch into the box


here u can see the room it freed up

when i do final assembly ill go back and seal up around the stack to make it air tight

When I was looking into this, it is aldo the front to back you have to deal with, and even with getting rid of my filler neck and trying it w/o velocity stacks still could not get it to fit. So I hope it works for you. I did the 1/2 YZF and 1/2 FZR aribox.

ya i was going to cut the underside of the tank to fit the air box

how does ur bike run with the half fzr half yzf airbox? did u have to rejet it?

have not got it running it, but those that have say it runs fine stock.

These mods have been done a lot of times as whole or in part ) and most of what you will ever need to know about GOTCHA's is in the Forum's archives, the WIKI & SEARCH believe me are your best friendson this topic.

These mods have been done a lot of times as whole or in part ) and most of what you will ever need to know about GOTCHA's is in the Forum's archives, the WIKI & SEARCH believe me are your best friendson this topic.
to save you a little searching I also tried to link alot of the How-tos, and mods in my thread below :whistle

I would stear away from moding your tank, since there is ton of alot easier ways to get the job done w/o tank modification.

ya the how too's and wiki on this site has been great for information after doing some searching im going with pods but i do not want to rejet my carbs so im going to flow my stock airbox and restrict the pods to the same cfm as the stock airbox that way A/F will be the same i will post more pics when the pods come in im also looking for 99 to 02 r6 seats if anyone has them
