Hybrid Revisited

Ive been thinking about selling or parting my hybrid, mainly because its been sitting so long and my patio was a shitty place to work on it, and when it was across town at my friends it was even worse. Being currently unemployed, Ive got lots of time, so I said f*ck it and wheeled it in the house. After rearanging the furniture of course. The dog isnt very pleased about it, but I can live with that. But in the last 2 days I have managed to get more done than in the last year or so. Nothing really obvious right now, but im making progress. I am also to the point where I dont think Im goign to sell it since everyone who was interested in parts backed out, and Im kinda over it.

I finished swapping the r6 controls on and integrating them into the harness, cleaned up, rerouted, fixed in place the harness inside the bike. I need to find a good wire wrap, I didnt have any shrink tube big enough for the whole bundle. Hooked up signals. I would have wired up my acewell speedo, but I put the wiring diagram somewhere safe so I wouldnt lose it, and cant remember where it is. And their website sucks, so Ill have to call them on monday. I also cleaned up under the tail. I relocated the MC res farther in and took off any extra R1 bracketry i didnt need. Ive got a solo seat cowl on the way, so i figured Id pull the pegs too, and I love the sleek look. If Im going to take a passenger, it will only take me 5 minutes to put them back on. I even decided that the signals had to go to. Im going to need to get an integrated taillight and figure out something for the liscence plate. I also finally modified my tank to fit better. I had one that fit already, but it was ugly. I got this nice black one pretty cheap and I dont need to paint it. Big plus on my budget. I also got a really good idea to mount my shorty can, I just need to get my hands on some of the correct sized spherical rod ends.

To Do Checklist:

Here are a few pics. Yes, its in my living room

Here's the signals I have. Theyre nice and bright and look great, but I like the sleek look better. Time for an integrated light.

Tidied wiring. This took forever. Had to extend some wires, pull R1 bracketry to make room, and get realy creative. And the starter solenoid is still a just laying there. Everything else is firm.

Tank's done, Installed tank protector for good measure.

Hehe, thats only half my movie collection. The other 400 or so are on my computer. The paint is high temp engine paint. I believe its Dupli-color. The engine is flat black, the side covers are gloss black. The red is dupli-color anodize look paint. Its a two step paint plus clear. it is also rated for higher heat. Ive got a set of flushmounts and cant find anywhere I like putting them. I like the sleek look.

Oh... so does this mean I shouldn't expect to buy the front and rear setups from you when my 50 sells?

No worries, I'd rather see another bike on the road anyway, I just wanted to be sure.

Im not totally against selling yet, but everyday I get farther away from wanting to. But Im bored and need something to do. If I start working on it again and actually making some progress, the liklihood of a sale goes down everyday. My intent was to sell to fund a new bike. But if I get this one going, Im gonna ride the tits off it. Plus I have LOOOOTTTSSS of time into it and ahve a hard time letting go. I wasnt super excited about selling in the first place.

Yeah no worries, I hear ya. It's surprising how hard to find R1 front ends are, at least the older generation. All the stuff on ebay right now is the 07/08 stuff and it's ungodly expensive.

I know, thats why I had to buy everything piece by piece. tubes, triple, clip ons, controls, wheel(had to buy 2 due to a shitty seller), brakes, etc. Everything was pieced together. At least that way I got what I wanted. the only thing I want that I didnt get was gold dot calipers. I dont like the blue. The performance difference is negligble, but there is nothing else blue on my bike.

yeah I know, thats only bc R1 ignitions are rediculously expensive. And they are two zip ties, zipped together. :P The FZR one doesnt fit right, but its better than dangling for the time being. My triple is aftermarket. It didnt come with the logo :(
