Hey Captain, you said you just bored out the swinger and axle sliders for the 20mm axle. What axle did you wind up using and how does it compare to the FZR600 axle length?

Re: Suzuki 17" Rim on stock FZR swingarm MOD (Testing Grounds)
It was a gsxr axle. It was most likly a 88 model year, but I'm not sure as it came with the wheel. The gsxr axle was the same length as the fzr within a few millimeters. I had it here with spacers on it so I used it and modified the spacers to get proper widths. You can get the proper bearings to fit the gsxr wheel and fzr axle, but you will need to have 4 spacers machined. 1 between the caliper bracket and the bearing,1 between the 2 wheel bearings, 1 inside the cush drive, and 1 between the cush drive and swingarm. When I have the wheel off again I'll get the axle length for you as well as the other measurement you asked for earlier.

the 20mm axle will help stop the wet string feel of the rear end,
is it the original swingarm you are using or one of the better alloy versions 3en or 3tj types.
If you do decide anyone to use the 3EN be aware it will only work with standard shock or a Fox remote twin clicker neither GSXR or Hayabusa shock will fit their reservoirs hit the bracing.

It is the original 1989 swingarm and the rear shock is an Ohlins. I would not be allowed to run a swingarm any newer then 1989 in the vintage class I plan to race.

to bad its $300
im confused as to why the 85-87 gsxr750 has a 5.5 rear wheel...then 88-90 it has a 4.5, then 91- on its 5.5....

And I may have found a breakthrough part for this conversion...a prefab bushing that goes inside 20mm ID bearings and allows you to use a 17mm axle....some of the early gixxer guys are in the same boat we are...I'll post the link soon.

This wheel in the auction is a 89 gsxr1100 wheel. Notice the 6 section cush drive,the 88-89 gsxr750 had a 5 section cush drive.90 to 95 gsxr 750 and 1100 used 17 x5.5" with 6 section cush drive. 88 gsxr1100 used a 18" wheelshredex wrote:I found a rim...
