Re: Hybrid Revisited
Everything considered, its a promising start. It revs hard, I bet it would be rideable as it is, I just need to play with the idle. Once I get it back outside in a few days, then I can really start messing around with it! in the meantime, I am buttoning up the last loose ends.
To Do Checklist:
Tune/synch Carbs -
Custom Midpipe -
Wrap exhaust -
Add relay to fuel low level sensor -
Wire liscence plate LED -
New throttle cables -
Color coded hardware -
Fab windscreen of some sort -
Change Oil -
Clearance frame for ign cylinder -
Can mount -
RIDE THE TITS OFF OF IT!!! -

Re: Hybrid Revisited
After FINALLY receiving my fork clamps from a doucheish ebay seller, I was able to mock up the light. The brackets that came with the clamps are too long, and I expected as much, Im making my own brackets. I want to bring it closer to the forks and probably lower. So bear in mind the current mounting and placement are temporary. I am also considering tossing a SV bikini fairing above it, maybe trimmed down, to cover up my cables and wires. And the top of the light is 7" across, so it will fit nicely I think. Ill get to that soon.

Now its just a matter of money. I need to buy new cables and midpipe, then insure and register, tune and ride!

Re: Hybrid Revisited
that head light reminds me of a cross between mad max beyond thunder dome and pulp fiction it looks good though deffinaty fits in with the rest of the bike

Re: Hybrid Revisited
I thought it was kinda like the Decepticon logo

The light is going to come back about 1.5" toward the forks and down about 1". Then a SV650 bikini fairing with a trimmed down flyscreen. I dont want it to go past the top of the guage. I wanna keep it LP.
Start with something like this and chop to suit:

Re: Hybrid Revisited
LOL!
Imagine something like this, all black, and better fitting of course. This was just a quick rough mock up for visual aid. Rough cuts. I think the bikini fairing will be a great start.

Re: Hybrid Revisited
Score!!
I was going through my spare parts and ran across an old acerbis plain jane streetfighter flyscreen. its just a little oversized, which is good. A little trimming and some heat to reshape it and Ive got a flyscreen. And it already has mounting tabs molded into the backside of it! Once I get the brackets for the light fabbed, then Ill trim this up.

Re: Hybrid Revisited
thats gonna look good the screen hides the cables and wiring. and makes it flow well that was the only thing that seemed off was the wiring and cables hanging out there. you should put on one of those big buell side intakes i was thinking of it and using the yzf ram air airbox but im gonna use full fairings so i dont think it would look good or fit

Re: Hybrid Revisited
That cardboard template turned out larger than i really want. I dont want to cover up the light's workmanship, but it is also oddly shaped and easy to see the wires and such. Its not big enough on its own to look right on the front end. I just need something to tidy the wires and cables up and accentuate the light a bit and maintain the correct lines with the bike. I think this will be a good start for a screen. And keep in mind, the whole light assy will be about 1.5" closer to the forks as soon as I make brackets. It should come up against the guages and reservoir. And the screen will fit better along the top of the light.
