The 5 spokes are going on my hybrid. Ive got wheels off an 05 R6 with rotors. Im going to have modking make some bushings for the rear axle to use it in my YZF swingarm. Then the rear YZF wheel on my hybrid will make it onto the frame you see above(with a different YZF swingarm) and the 03 R1 front wheel on my hybrid will move onto the 01 R1 forks on the new frame. Ive got spare brakes all around, controls, etc. Ive got 75% of a bike in spare parts, no engine, and Im going to put it all together for fun. I need to clean up the rear wheel a bit and repaint it, and I need tires, and the bushings, oh yeah, and a caliper. The YZF and FZR share the same caliper, it is the same part number, but the YZF rear axle is larger, so the caliper mounts wont interchange. If you are acquiring YZF bits, you can keep you FZR hydraulics, you dont even need to crack the system for the swap, just get the YZF axle, and all the bits that go inside the swingarm. The only exception is the rotor. You can do without the YZF rotor and use the FZR one. They are different PNs and have different crossdrill patterns, but they are the same dimensions. Otherwise, youll need all YZF stuff.

Thanks your the best that was soo quick i already have everything to do this and even have the swingarm cut but i almost started in on this project without the caliper mounts!!! well i guess i am off to ebay to find some parts

Im still having issues with my chain hitting the rearset mount at certain times. And ive ground it down as far as I am willing, and bent the mount a bit to suit, but can only bend it a little before the shifter lever starts contacting the shift rod. Im passively hunting for a 400 frame, and will outboard the mounts on it before swapping everything over. My front sprocket always made a little noise, and the chain would bounce just a little coming off it, and now Ive got a nasty howl from my front sprocket for some reason in addition to the occasional light clatter of the chain tapping the mount. So Im pulling it all off soon and I will recheck everything and make sure nothing is out of whack, and I will change out the sprockets. I have been wanting to get rid of the Vortex front sprocket for a JT, and I am going to go back to a 15t to hopefully take some stress off the chain. Im using a 14t right now. My current gearing is 14/47, and I am changing to preferably 15/50 to keep a similar ratio, but I cant find a 50 tooth YZF 520 rear sprocket made out of steel anywhere. Supersprox 49t is the closest I can find, and I am afraid that will be what I am stuck with if I want steel, otherwise I could use another vortex aluminum rear sprocket. That is probably what I will do since I do not want to lower my gear ratio, Im very happy with where its at now, I just want a larger front sprocket, and a better means of securing the sprocket nut.

well I'll be home this weekend i guess it time to file like crazry and maybe make some new dogbones.
When I rode it I noticed a huge difference in the turning it was actually a little wierd, but I liked it

i had some problems with fedex ruining a 04 r6 front rim (5 spoke) so i ended up getting a 04 r1 rim (also 5 spoke) and the rotors fit from the r6 rim to the r1 and to put them on 02 r1 forks only needed a washer to space them to fitPIMPMYFZR wrote:What are you throwing the r6 5 spokes on .. I got the chain to stop hitting my mount just by bending it I didn't even grind it at all!!! And just drove it 100 miles worry free!!! I have made quick work of the yzf 600r swingarm to fit to my 89 400/600 fzr
I'm just wondering now that I can mount the yzf rim with the stock 160 should I cut
1/2 inch at the back and move the chain adjusters forward to come back close to the 400 stock length swingarm .
Hopefully someone reads this in the next half hour as I'm on a roll ....
