How do you drill that hole without the metal falling in the case?

Lets not get this arguement started AGAIN! Nothing to see here, just move on.

I went through the thread and it was: "I drilled the hole". I just wanted to see if there was a trick to drilling it - what you used, etc...

I didn't notice anything in the WIKI either....

UPDATE: I searched through the ARCHIVES for the information and updated the WIKI

Ideally you pull the engine and take off the transmission case, But since it is on the bike and the engine has 20k on it, I am going to just run it w/o worrying about it for now. I just used a center punch and a new sharp drill bit and drilled the hole.

I can provide a template that I had my alum plate made from, maybe modking would be interested in makeing and selling a drill template.

So I think might have a idea on what I am going todo with the air box, I am going to use a very large band saw, and cut the back of both air boxes off just before the intake holes and put the 400 back on the 600 box. I'm not sure what how I am going to glue them together, maybe gorilla glue.

So I am also adding a r6 raditator, this will elimiate the filler cap and make more room for the fzr400 airbox, then I don't think I am going to have to cut it.

Man I am going to have a FZR parts Ebay garage sell at the end. Need some money to pay down the credit.

Since I have the bike stripped done to a rolling chasis with a motor I think I am going clean it, mask of the motor, and paint the frame satin black. what would you guys use to clean it? just off the shelf degreaser? What would the prep work be like? I have never painted metal before, besides the undercoating of my truck.

Did you get the choke cable? Was it the correct one?
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Yep I did get it, but I was running a race this weekend and had family in town so I have not had a chance to check yet. do you have to remove the carbs to do the carb side? it appears as if you do.

It is easier if you do remove them. but it is possible to do it with the carbs on.

did a little work today on the tank, and ALOT of cutting on my undertail and grinding (cutting) on my rear frame. First on the tank. I first tried removing one of the spacers on the yzf tank, and that worked, but it was pretty much a hard mount, and I did not like that. I tried bending down the rad filler neck bracket, to get it to fit better and it snapped off, not sure if it had been stressed before or not. O well I have the r6 rad, so I am going to proceed with that. BTW the fzr1k neck bracket is the only way, imho, I got it bolted up today and it worked great. I am also using the yzf600 rear tank mount, I cut off the little tabs, and it looks like with a little more bending it will work good. I messed around with fitting the 400 airbox a little today but did not get a chance to finish it up. I hoping it will fit, it is a alternative to the pods and rejetting.

I will post up pictures tomorrow of the tail, But I think I cut it up too much, and I can't seem to get the front of the sides of the undertail up. You can see the frame from the underside. So I think I have cut too much, I might be buying another undertail, if I can find one.
