Re: SwingArm Bug Bit me
They're probably like most value tires. They last a while, but they probably don't grip as well. I doubt you'll have any problems using them on the street.
Thanks for joining and participating in the most "active" FZR Community on the internet!
Re: SwingArm Bug Bit me
It depends on the model of the tire. I don't recall them making a soft compound high performance tire. It'll probably last a long time and if all you are doing to everyday type of riding (work, or touring) then it'll be fine but that's probably not really a tire you want to around the track or even through any extreme twisties.PIMPMYFZR wrote:I just got a shinko 180/55 R17 brand new for 70$ has anyone used this brand b4 I've checkd reviews see that most ppl don't prefer them seen others say they last longer then bridgestones and pirellis but for 70 I said what the hell

Re: SwingArm Bug Bit me
The guy I bought it from was asking 120 he had one on his FZ1 swore by it but needed the money I guess its the 009 raven tires now if I can get a couple hours of spare wrenching time so I can swap out this yzf swingarm ! When you own a restaurant and have to cook in it there's 2 shifts 7 days a week , its hard to find time I swear almost ready to put it on the market . But that life and people gotta eat so back to work!

Re: SwingArm Bug Bit me
I think ima try to disassemble it tonight.ok I think I have every piece to the puzzle ! I think I've read every how there is yet I've never had to take somthing so complex apart -part of the reason y I'm doing this- now my thing is I was gonna raise the bike on the swingarm stand then use some bottle jacks under the engine to keep it up. Does this sound safe? My chain will I need an extra link or for the meantime was gonna use the one I have now and my 520 rear sorocket seems to line up in the yzf wheel . I'm not sure though it will work . My rear set I will just put spacers on till I have time to tinker with them . Anyone opinions welcome

Re: SwingArm Bug Bit me
If you put a jack underneath the shock it will support the engine and the front end can be ont he ground, this also give you the option of raising and powering the rear end. Between a jack and a stand, youll be fine.
Re: SwingArm Bug Bit me
one more thing can i take the shock off while the bike is on swingarm stand ???

You need to put the frame/engine rails on TWO auto axle stands + the front wheel has to be stable.
As it is the bike is being held via the rear paddock stand thro the shock & its pivot shaft in the swingarm thro the frame.
Undoing the shock mount will throw yer bike on the ground !!!!!!!

you're welcome,
I heard to day that my friend is closing his company shortly (well he is 70 in a couple of days )so the workshop will no longer be available to me :-{{{{{{{
So I went out & bought 2 * 2 tonne axle stands just to be able to keep the bike steady if I have to work some place else.
Re: SwingArm Bug Bit me
Sad to hear your buddy shop closing ! At his age though I can't blame him . I was wondering if yzf600 and r6 have the same size sprockets or mounting holes ? I can't find a yzf locally just order online ! I can't wait anymore can't see my bike sitting in pieces !

I beleive the mounting holes are different and dont interchange.
Re: SwingArm Bug Bit me

Re: SwingArm Bug Bit me
Well after puttin in a 12 hour shift today and being pissed that i have to order a rear sprocket i went home and started messin around with the bike .. Well i didnt have a hydraulic jack so i used some jack stands but because my swingarm stand wasnt high enough , i couldnt slip them up atleast one notch so my bike looked kinda cock-eyed sitting on the frame rails . I've never removed a suspension off a motorcycle and i couldnt get the top bracket to slide off so i unbolted the swingarm and the swingarm kinda slid right out from under the spring . i bent my tailight brake sensor at an angle thinking i could slide the swingarm right through , Boy was i WRONG. scratched the shit out of my newly painted swingarm .. its ok .. i didnt use the washers they were giving me a hard time sliding them in ! i never took the chain off because i dont have the tool .i still need to change out the front sprocket and start hooking things like the right and left rearsets <ill worry about them when i get to them though . So as of now i have the swingarm and shock put back . when i took my stock swing arm apart the bushing slid right out .when i went to put it in the yzf, the bushing slid thru but when it came to other side slid in really hard . I hope that will not be a problem !?. but i bolted everything back and it seems pretty snug .. so well see .havnt mounted the wheel just put it in there .This is how its looking so far
this is how the stock wheel looks next to it
Now Time to relax for rest of the night .. peace
