+5 on the buy new after using the old for testing your depth as the cage the needles sit in WILL distort and lead to Brinelling the bearing shaft (wear pattern over small area and not allow for proper rotation.)

As to the question of a shoulder not a problem PROVIDING it is not so deep as to go in beyond the bearing surface of the inner core sleeve which has been ground & hardened specially for the bearings to rest on.

If you go outside of that the whole force (weight/torsional forces thro the frame etc) will not be handled by the whole bearing and lead to premature failure.

I know you guys have problem finding competent machinists at reasonable money but these holes should be bored & reamed to size

This is the main load bearing area on your bike adjusting the front to rear axis all the time you are in motion. Nerd

So abs you just grinded the little lip inside nd kept tappin your old ones in till they sat flush ? What did you tap your new ones in with? I seen somwhere online this guy used a long bolt with washers and nuts and put the bearings in the freezer for like 30min said they shrink when frozen dunno where I seen it though

Your right George machining is the only way togo . But out here in the states unless your affiliated to somone who works or owns a machining shop , a lot of places won't take the work unless your corporate or have an account with the company

Another trick is to use a deep socket that is about the same diameter. Flip the socket over so more surface area is against the bearing (bolt hole up) and tap it in with a hammer. Either way, use a rubber mallet.

Be carefull though. If you start to put it in cockeyed, it will warp the bearing then it's useless.

- now ppl your thoughts as to my wheel color if you don't mind. I can either go all BLACk or paint the inside same color as my bike with a polished lip. I have a matching front wheel for eithe way . Btw my swingarm is black. What color would you do polished lip or all black?

They are a nice tight press fit. If you have a good solid -heavy- flat surface to use, you can use a small bottle jack with a flat piece of steel to press in evenly. Just brace it underneath something solid and heavy, or solid and bolted down and use the jack as a press. Or any auto shop should be able to press them in with a hydraulic press.

Well after messing with my swingarm bearings , i called the stealership and asked them how much they charge to press in 2 bearing ,, they quoted me $40.
I was not about to give it to them , so i call an old friend who owns a tool and die shop. Low and behold he had a 20 ton hydraulic press , and says sure bring them by .. Never seen those things go in so Ez , he put some loctite on them said these things shouldnt move for the sake of god , So now it's just a matter of finding the time and a friend to help dissassemble the bike with me ,, i work 7 days a week at my resteraunt , and im painting the outside of the building <5000 square feet> so i dont know when ill have time to put this thing in .. ughhh
