Alrighty! I figured out the resolution to the R6 controls and the throttle cable being too long. I am using 2007 R6 controls which have a seperate throttle tube from the switch box. Somehow(luckily) I lokst the throttle cables from my R6 assy. No big deal, the whole shebang cost me $10 on ebay. With the 07 as with earlier R6 controls, the cables are too long. Earlier R6 setups can be adapted to use the FZR cables, but the newer ones cannot. Since I needed to order new cables anyway, I went to my old friend ebay and bought a YZF600 throttle assembly for $15. It uses the same type of setup as the newer R6 in that the throttle assy is seperate from the switch assy. It also should not have the cast in metal pin to seat the assy on the bar and the cables will be a more appropriate length for the FZR. I just ordered the parts and they should be here hopefully next week and I will take some pics and document it properly. So for $25+shipping, about an hour with a soldering iron and shrink tube(Thanks Thatkid! Your Wiki writeup was very helpful!!!) you too can have modern switches with appropriate length cables with little to no other mods necessary. Plus I personally like the slimmer look of the switchbox without the throttle built in.

I ground down a section about 2" x1/4-3/8" or so on the backside of my top triple to help clear the tank. MUCH better. Now it just hits at the bosses for the pinch bolts, but when those are touching, the tubes are touching the fradiator, so that shouldnt be an issue. Next problem...I need to come up with some sort of steering stop to keep from bashing my tubes into the radiator. The way my triple is machined it doesnt really leave anywhere to mount one except down inside the cutouts. Im thinking about drilling two holes, one above the other, tapping them, and using a flat piece of steel sticking up as a stop. But then it is putting all the strain of stopping it against the threads in the aluminum, which will be the weak point. And im pretty sure I have aluminum in my eye. Thanks for working so well safety goggles...

Nope cooler. And more custom. Dont worry, Im not telling yet. but thats a good idea, my clutch is stiff as hell.

Possibly. I think what I am going to have to do it just weld on stops next go-round, and just be careful of it for a while. I can do that this winter.

Ive thought about that as well, but have not come up with an idea that would not stand out and be ugly. It might be easier to conceal with fairings, but I dont have that option. And after working on my buddy's FZR yesterday with fairings, I dont mind not having them, not even a little.

Im still tossing ideas around. unless its something fairly simple its probably not going to happen for a little while. Ive got bigger issues to worry about, and if Im right, it should be rideable within a week or two. And no, Im not telling. You will see in due time... WOOT
