ok, I just lifted my front back up about 1 1/8", so that leaves it lowered 1 1/8" because It was 2 1/4", and I relocated my bars to under the triple tree...
The reason I did this is so it misses the tank fairing...and also if you look at newer bike to the seat hight to bar height, there are alot closer in height than older bikes....which is why there less comfertable...but Im all for looking good! lol bonkonhead

You know... If I was worried about riding wheelies, I'd raise it back up all the way.

Moey, with the fzr 250 also has his bars like this...
its going to ride the same, but Ill be more hunched over like modern sportbikes, because modern day ones also have theres under the triple trees.

Bike leans to far over on its kick stand when it all the way up...iv had the bike blow over because of it...
and if I raise it, then Its just going to be too high up

...no one on the forums realizes how much better looking there bike looks when you drop the front 2 inches...no joke...the front view is more pleasing and everything....and I can do wheelies fine...I can actually do them better than my buddy who is on his 07 gsxr600

take a look at the all around height of this bike...(how close the front fairing is to the front wheel...how close to the ground it is...how much it sticks up in the rear...also notices the bars are under the triple trees..) you have to realy study it...

the other guys that put r1 fairings on there bikes, well, there is always something off on them...and its because it wasnt low enough...

Time for some plastic welding !!! :headbang:

I used cut threads of some old plastic divider thing
Image

Here is a little tab I had to make from scratch and plastic weld on. Its a tab that hold the side fairing to the front fairing.
Image
Image
Heres the one thats not broken on the other side
Image

welding the upper!
Image
Image

this part was broken, but not broken off as you can see...welded back together
Image
Image

had to go all the way down the top side of the left fairing where the bike slid...
Image

where you see the plastic weld dip down toward the right, is where it ground threw and made a hole so I filled it and patched it up in the back
Image
Image

sigh*..when will I get a break...
Image
started by making a patch in the back (pic is of me starting the patch)
Image
heres the other side once I was done with the back
Image
had to cut a piece to fill it
Image
Image
done!
Image

and I dicided to fix the cracks in the 250 plastic too!
Image
Image

Thats all for now folks!

Do you plan on getting the r6 controls then and maybe clean up those cipons and levers? Would be a shame to see those unattended since they look pretty bad and will take a little focus off your other work.

okay, some more progress...
I have lowered the stay this way temperarly till I can get my stay cut and rewelded...
Image

here is how im holding up the front end temperarly also...
Image
Image

did some more plastic welding and made up my own mount on the fairings...
Image
Image

it connects to that pointless mount right above the radiator mount...I think that is for to hold a mount that holds the stock fzr plastics on though
Image
Image

it suprisingly has made it alot more stable...I did a good job on making the little bracket :headbang:

its raingin out side...I realized I havent slept since about yesterday morning...I might take a nap and hopefully when I wake It will have stopped raining and I can go out and do some more work on it!

well, I havent had the fairings on my bike for about a week cause right now im repairing them and getting my bike running right before I put them on again.
I got the headlights I was speaking of, but it looks like im going to have to either buy a 04-06 r1 stay, or custom make one because the stock stay is WAY in the way... and it looks like Im going to need the front harness to the r1.
your doing just race fairings so you should be good...
BTW, I am planning on making race 04-06 r1 fairings and having them to mount up to the FZR with little to no modifications...and I was going to sell them for like $400 or so...

There is parts of the fairings that your going to have to cut off. Once I get my camera batterys charged, ill take pics of all the places I needed to chop.

Are the race fairings fiberglass? most likely they are...so youll have to make fiberglass mounts like the plastic one I did in one of the posts in here....

let me know when you get your fairings. Ill give more detail once you have it so you can see exactly what I mean lol

two things..1, about the stay, you can bend the stock FZR stay pretty easily, and you might be able to bend it to exactly what you need. I've repaired crashed bikes before where the stay was all crushed up, as long as you have a front fairing, you can bend it any way you want, plus if you get the stock R1 stay, then you might have to figure out how to mount it to the frame, chances are the front of the R1 frame isn't as high as the FZR because of the newer bikes having lower handlebars than our FZR.

The second thing...take a pic of the back of the headlights and send it to me, i'll look up the wiring diagram and tell you how you can wire it so you don't have to buy the harness.

I know the fzr stay sits alot higher...which is why I mounted it the way I did in the pictures I posted earlier in the thread...I would just mount the r1 stay the same way and possibly tack weld it onto there...

each headlight has two lights and a turn signal...so that means four lights and two turn signals...
six plugs all together...I have one connecter that can connect to the connecters on the lights...
I dont want to hack up the wires on the lights incase I want to sell them in the future. I can just get the r1 harness and get the female plug to convert the fzr harness so its a basic plug and play once Im done with it..

and heres the 02-03 r1 wire diagram which is pretty much the same as the 04-06
