Re: Project X
does that thing act as like a FI fuel pump where it send fuel from the carbs back to the fuel tank?

Re: Project X
Nah, if you look at the diagram its got a check valve. My guess is it traps vapors or unburned fuel?shredex wrote:does that thing act as like a FI fuel pump where it send fuel from the carbs back to the fuel tank?

Re: Project X
That stuff can be removed. As a matter of fact remove everything except the header and the servo and plug the holes in the block and cap off the port to the canister on the carbs. Made my old 6 run MUCH better after.

Re: Project X
The R6 subframe is going on the black frame. Right now im trying to figure out the best way to mount it and the silver frame is gonna be the guinea pig... that way if I f**K something up its no big deal

Re: Project X
Dude, I pulled off that canister but what do I use to cap the carbs? The holes in the block by the header were plugged by the PO. I already removed my EXUP servo and the stock header is coming off too because I got one of Nates R6 headers.sweekster wrote:That stuff can be removed. Wheres the best place to buy a gasket kit? I wasnt planning on replacing the headgasket but should I? I was gonna replace the gaskets for the valve cover, oil pan, peanut cover, stator cover, clutch cover and 4 exhaust gaskets... fresh start!

Re: Project X
Well, I really havent had much time to work on my bike but today i thought I would try and knock the bearings outta the swingarm... WRONG! I completely demolished the bearings on both sides and all that is left are the races. I got one side out about 1/8" and the other side I got out about 1mm. I beat on those F*cking things for about 3 hours and now there isnt hardly even a lip for the socket to sit on! I gave up for tonight and Im gonna try and formulate a plan of attack for this weekend. Dave said the bearings must be completely out before I bring the swingarm to his shop to be machined down. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Im open to any suggestions

OH! Not to mention my step dad missed hitting extension on one of his swings and put a nice dent right by the shock cutout

when it doesnt work, get a hammer...if the hammer doesnt work...get a bigger hammer
Re: Project X
Heat. Propane torch at the very least on the pivot tube over the bearings. (shoulda polished after)mxryder21 wrote:Im open to any suggestions
Or you could chisel a notch thru the race

OH boy cosmetics before the real work, Oh well at least RR has given you the real solution HEAT
if the PO used locktite on the bearing outer then heat will bust that & expand the alloy (even though there is lots of it.)
I put mine in the kitchen oven to get the heat soak out the way then held it in oven mitts over the gas ring dropped out like the little turd it was.
Alloy will melt very easily a good indicator is to put a X of hand soap bar on the place you are going to heat if it turns black take it out the heat.. Let it slowly cool down do NOT water chill it !!!
