If you want to go with a satin black, Hot Hues by DuPont makes an awesome color called Hot Rod Black. It's the same color I'm gonna paint my 1970 Dodge Charger 500 whenever I get the bodywork done. :whistle

IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took me about 10 minutes of push starting it, but I got it running tonight. Ran really good to. But I didn't get to really open it up to see how the carbs were. But it pulled a lot better on the bottom end than it use to. There are still things that need to be finished. The mirrors don't work at all, they point at the bottom of the rear tire and ar not adjustable in that direction. I don't like where the exhaust can sits. It looks really low because I put the seat a little higher than normal. Not to mention the tail fairing has less material than the stock FZR one does on the bottom of it. All of hat will change when I finish the undertail exhaust. And there are the miscellaneous items that need attention (like a bolt for the rear hugger to straighten it).

But over all, it is great. it felt really good even with all the mods I've done. It still turned (lean angle) well too. And it felt really stable. But I'm going to need to build up some hand strength to get use to the hydraulic clutch.

I get that "it runs!!" feeling every time I start my bike up. LOL. It's really good to see that you are now benefitting from all of the work you've put into it. Impressive to say the least.

That swinger looks awsome, I like everything you have done, the bike looks really good. I think this winter I will rebuild my harness from those two places you mentioned and add the r6 tail, I ordered a seal kit from that guy on ebay thanks for that resource.

Thanks guys. I was really sweeting it for a while. I had done so many changes and so many re-wiring that I was not sure it would start. I love the result though. And not to mention, it works. I'm going to try to get some different mirrors on it tonight. Also try to crank it up again to make sure everything still works after sitting for a day. The battery didn't want to fire it up after running for 5 minutes. But I was able to push start it again and I ran it around the neighborhood for 20 minutes or so, turned it off and waited about 5-10 minutes, then it cranked right up on it's own. So we'll see. Have to get some load equalizers though for the turn signals, damn LED's.

Thats gorgeous man. I agree with the exhaust position. It obscures the view of the wheel. With an undertail she will be magnificant. Again good job. That hard work is payin off.

Thanks guys. Little by little it will get completely finished. But the good part is that I can ride while working on the little things.

Yeah thats a big milestone. I gotta take my body work off to repair and prep them for paint, but since I only get to ride my fzr on the weekends I don't want to take the bodywork off. I think next week I'm just gonna take the body work to school with me and work on it here. Sorry for the rant.

Well, a monumental F-up puts the bike on a stand for a couple of days/weeks. Could have been catastrophic for me and the bike, but some how it wasn't. Now on a single sided swingarm, there is a retaining nut that holds the spindle/axle in place. Takes 144 ft. lbs. of torque. It basically threads through the swingarm and has the rear sprocket carrier on it as well. And this is what happens if you don't torque the nut down all the way and you are going down the road.

Image

All of the sudden, I heard a peice of aliuminum go clinking down the road and I loss all momentium. Some how the chain just dropped to the ground instead of getting twisted or flung into the frame. After getting some help to get home (I was only 1 mile away) picking up the truck, I went back to ge thte bike loaded. Started searching for the peices as well. Found the sprocket carrier and sprocket. But it's now missing a fe teeth. And I waited 3 damn months for that sprocket too.

Image

Couldn't find the nut or the cush drive rubbers. I'll have to look for them tomorrow. I'll also start to see if anything else is messed up while I'm at it. Lesson learned - double check all important torqued items and if need be, use locktite.
