great job so far dude
I have it lifted in the rear via custom dogbones...lol. its up as far as I would like it to go because the chain rubs the swingarm a bit. which is why I bought a chain guide from nate....

lol, SOMEONE else shares the same taste as me!
yup, he used the r1 tank fairing that you can buy for about $200.
that guy really needs to lower that front and raise the rear. he didnt put that much thinking into it like I have to mine.
and he made it even wider for some reason on the mid fairings :headscratch: probably to space it out to fit the cooland overflow.

I think with my next paycheck, I will buy a real r1 stay because the one I built is off a bit and when it was welded it warped.
I might need new headlights as well because mine have broken tabs. aout of the 5 tabs on each headlight, there is only 2 on each...lol I got um cheap though!
then I would also be able to lower the front the extra 1" it needs.

i'm not trying to be a hater, because i am in no place to criticize someone for modding their bike. But i agree with Shred on this, it looks like the guy just slapped the plastics on and called it a day, the lowers are way too high, he did nothing with the luggage rails and the tank, although i do think it could look nice, is not seated correctly. and as much as i like that paint scheme, there just isnt enough plastic there to pull it off, imo shreds bike looks ALOT better. the guys name is BADChoppers, it should be BAD FZR mod! keep up the good work shred, its looking good.
I did that.

Target,
I agree it was thrown together and shreds does look better. I posted that link so shred could see how that guy fitted the tank because thats about the only thing he DID do a good job on. Shred has received alot of doubt and criticism regarding the R1 tank and I though he would appreciate seeing an R1 tank that was fitted correctly

+5 on that paint scheme btw.

yes, its just a cover.
its the same as the 04-06 r1 tank, but it has softer corners so it looks different and you dont see the tank cover seem like on the real r1 tank.
crazyc has one on his fzr1000.
again, softer corners...

r1 fork swap is ready.
had the yzf600 stem pressed into the r1 triple and we welded a bulky washer to the bottom of the stem to make sure it wouldnt pull threw.
instead of welding around the stem and then turning it down, we used a shim and pressed it in with it for a tight fit.

I might swap it all over tomorrow.
Im just afraid of the brakes.
I dont know how Im going to do that.
im going be using the brake system from my bike, but with the r1 calipers..

The brakes aren't the same as the ones you have now (can't remember at the moment)? If you have the radial brakes then you'll need the new master cylinder to match. Even if your front end came with the gold spot calipers then you should just be able to re bleed the system and be fine.

the r1 cals are blue dot and look exactly like the r6 ones on my bike.
the only difference is the spacing between the mounting holes
the r1 forks vvvvv

Those are probably the same calipers dude. Try the ones already on your bike first- they should fit the new front end just fine.

I swaped the forks today.
everything is in working order except the brakes.
The r6 cals on my bike would have worked except that the r1 rotors are wider than the ones from my bike so they wouldnt go on.
so I undid the hose from the r6 cals and screwed them onto the r1 cals.
so I have no front brakes...I cant figure them out.
and tomorrow im going to drill out the holes on the ignition mount and make spacers so that my ignition will bolt onto the r1 triple.

anyone know if there is a way of widening the gap on the calipers??
if so, if I plug the hose back into the r6 cal, would it still work?
im stuck...
Im gonna call the motorcycle place down the road to see if they can do it for cheap.
