yes, the 600 and 400 swingarms are the same dimensions, unless you have the 3.5" rear rim

Ok, 400/600 swingarm. It doesnt matter and you are using an 89 Gixxer rim with a 160/60/17. And the gixxer rear caliper and rotor/cush drive? So, nothing from the FZR except for the rotor and brake arm?

Actually all the fzr600s and fzr400s except the 3tj have the same pivot width, axle dia and have the same width between "arms" where the axle goes through. There are some slight difference in how wide a rim/tire can be run as some of the swingarms are more/less beefy and therefore have more/less clearance.

The fzr600 wheels are identical(apart from the fact that one just has a 1/2" wider lip) they share the same sprocket carrier, disc, spacers, etc. The fzr400 wheels, again apart from the 3tj, are identical, although to swap from a 600 wheel to a 400 or vis versa you need to keep the same sprocket carrier, crush drive rubbers, disc, wheel spacers and caliper hanger that came with that particular wheel, basically everything that sits in between the swingarm (to use a 600 caliper on a 400 rim a small amount needs to be milled from the underside).
fzr660/400: fzr400 3en1 frame, 3en2 swinger, custom single seat subframe, fzr660 motor conversion, APE adjustable cam gears, full D&D 4-2-1 exhaust, falicon clutch basket, ignitech ignition, R6 front end with tz250 wheel, ohlins shock, storz steering damper, tzr250 rear wheel.

weighs 166kg wet (25kg lighter than my stock fzr600).

Hey Rage how much does that wheel weigh with the sprocket hub and disc?

(not against it, or for it... just asking for clarification) (I'm a little dumb / slow)
:stupid

I'm currently using the FZR400 swingarm, FZR400 caliper, YZF600 caliper arm (the one that the axle goes through) and the FZR400 caliper arm. It's really too tight of a situation with the brake arm, so I'm going to try the suzuki components.

Yes, I will have some machining to do, but the overall cost should remain lower than a YZF600 swap, which can get you close to $300 for decent parts.

I am not sure where to find these rims, but I would assume a great place to start would be the Suzuki forums.

I will probably work with ModKing on some bushings. I just need to get some more measurements.

I will weigh them this morning; however, I will have to do it with tires on the rims.

I will weigh the following items:

FZR400 stock wheel
Suzuki GSXR (89-90) wheel
YZF600 stock wheel

I weighed the rims with the tires on and with the rotors attached. The hubs were not included.

FZR400 rim (4"): 27.2 lbs.
YZF600 and GSXR rims (4.5"): 30.8 lbs.

Rage,

- Rear rotor is 9.5" right? (Trying to locate a rotor for the Gixxer rim)
- They guy who installed the FZR size bearings, do you think he might remember what bearing part numbers they are? If not, any idea how that could be sourced, or matched?

Yes, the rotor is 9.5", which is why you need the GSXR caliper bracket. If you use the FZR bracket and arm, you'll end up rubbing the tire with it.

Here are some numbers from the bearings:

Old: 6204J30
New: 6303-2RS1/C3GJN

I'm not done with this thing yet.

Here is the scoop. Originally I was going to use this rim on my project bike; however, I would have the opposing problem of offset issues because I'm running a YZF600 motor in there. So, I'm using the larger YZF swingarm and rim with the YZF600 motor.

So, I threw this rim on my FZR600 and it fit like a glove with some spacers, with one exception. I have the same issue of the 160 tire hitting the rear brake arm that people who put the 160s on the 18" frame; however, I don't have to worry about the tire hitting the swingarm that the 18" rims with the 160 tires do. The sprocket lined up perfectly.

Now, here's the issue. I can't tell you what rim I have. I've heard everything from 96-99 Bandit 600 to 88-89 GSXR 750. It looks like both of them.

The difference is the cush drive or sprocket hub. I have 2 different ones. The one that fits has been painted "black". Neither of them appear to have been milled at all. They have the exact outside dimension. The other dimensions are on the graphics.

I would be interested to know, Tom, which one of my hubs matches yours.

Looks like I have nether!

The height from the Lug base to the top is the same (17 mm) and the overall diameter is the same (159.5 mm), but the the height from the lug base to the base of my cush drive is taller (47 mm).

Rage I'd be curious as to what the measurement was between point (A) and (B)? or Hub end to Hub end?
I'll try and get that measurement later today since the rim is at home and I'm at work.

I'm beginning to believe that my rim is off of a 96-99 Suzuki Bandit 600 since yours doesn't match up.

I'll get measurement later.

Rage I think your silver one is the same as the one Tom has just that the sprocket bolt mounts have been machined down 10mm, 1. they're basically the same overall height and 2. it does kind of look like it has been machined.

Good call. It does appear that way. I wish I knew where the black one was from. That's the one that fits the stock FZR swingarm.
