Now it's just a little grinding and sanding to clean it up then I can call the welder to come put things in their new places. Took me long enough to get to here.
Well get to crackin this looks like its gonna be interesting ,,,

Got a little done today. First up was to mock in the fox shock with the mounting tabs to make sure I didn't mess anything up. It's held in with zip ties for now.

People always look puzzled when I tell them that I'm almost finished and then they see the thing. Wonder why?

Image

Actually, I should have dismantled the thing from the begining. It would have saved me a ton of time. It took me all of 30 minutes to get the frame out side and grind down the shock mounts. I'm calling the welder Monday morning. Well, I might call him today instead.

Then I decided to put the front end on and the rear end in place to make sure about the ride height.

Well, the welder is suppose to come out Saturday some time to take a look at what I need done. It can't be more than an hours worth of work, so I hope he'll just do it.

This finally came in today. I've only been waiting on it for 3 months. Seriously, I order it on April 27th and it showed up today. It's a Vortex sprocket to fit the VFR swingarm. 47 tooth and it's been what they call "F5" coated. Which is really just a hard coat anodizing.

Big update today. First off, the welder came by and hooked me up.

Image

A trick peice I decided to do is to take a solid bar of Nylon (1-1/2" dia) and make some spacers out of it. I would have loved to just buy some nylon washers, but I couldn't find the correct size, width, or hole diameter. The reason is to keep metals from grinding together, especially non-similar metals. These should a parishable item which is why I bought such a large bar.

Image

Started putting the thing back together.

Image

Here you can see the spacers with the swingarm in the frame.

Image

Got the froks back on, I promise that no bottles of beer where hurt during this procedure.

Image

Got the Fox Shox back in. Not it stands on it's own. I've got a single arm stand to aid with maintance.

Image

Got the rear wheel and rearsets mounted up. I'm going to have to figure out the left side, because the heel gaurd is hitting the swingarm but it should be a simple fix.

Image

Here is a pic of the shock and right rearset.

Image

Last two are of the rolling chasis.

Lucky! I wish my scopper had a rolling chassis. Alas, it does not.

It's looking pretty sweet man. I remember reading somewhere that you can mount a standard Honda car wheel on that swinger. So if you ever want to go WIDE in the back, you have that option. I'm not sure about that rear hugger yet though. It seems really goofy looking to me. Keep those updates coming.

Oh, where did you get those carb seal kits? The 89 I just picked up is in need of new seals something fierce.

Its looking really sweet, That swinger is a different way to go, was it a PITA to make it fit the width? Damn I can't wait to get mine done. can you list your sources for the pods, and seals, and needles. I think I will go that way, with my yzf600 tank.

Thanks guys, this is a major step toward having it on the road. Patient is not one of my virtus. Therefore, some items will have to wait until winter to get done. I want to ride this thing.

As for the carb seals, here is a link to the persons ebay store that I bought them from. He was good and really easy to deal with, but he doesn't have many left.http://search.stores.ebay.com/GEORGEFIX ... 13QQsofpZ0

The swingarm was a PITA, but not too bad. Biggest problem was finding a machinist to do some of the work. After that it's just some grinding on the frame, having some pivot bolt sleeves made, and getting the rear sprocket carrier milled down for correct alignment. But I am going to start working on a design for the wheel spindle so I can use a Ducati wheel instead.

A little more done. I'm getting closer and closer to riding.

I've got most of the fairings with one coat of paint. Still have lots more coats to go, but I wanted to see what is looked like with the color so I mounted all to the fairings. To go along with it, there were numerous brackets I had to make to the tail and mirrors would stay in the correct place. I was also able to mount the seat lock so all thats left for the seat is the front tank bracket. Here you go.

The color is satin black and yes the tank will be painted too. It's a rattle can job for now but I may order true automotive paint later this winter as House of Color offers it. By the way, the new "Universal" spray can from rustoleum suck. They just don't work correctly. But, if you remove the big cap that you would normally hold onto and depress the trigger like a normal spray can then it works great and gives the best coverage of any spray can I've ever seen. The paint comes out in a vertical line instead of a mist.

Thanks guys. I do have to make some concessions for now as I want to ride this season. So the under tail exhaust, real paint, and frame powder coat will have to wait until winter at least. I'm going to go with a Yoshi pipe I've already got (I'll repack it) and the YZF600 truck set up to hold the electrical since I'm not making a custom sub-frame yet. I'm waiting on a battery from the local store to come in as I'm switching to a maintanance free battery. But there is still a little more to do here first. Some brackets, electrical connections for the lights, and blead the brakes/clutch. Not to mention the paint. But soon. Hopfully this weekend.
