FZR600/YZF600/R6 Build

The top of the FZR fairings are not horizontal so it leaves a triangular gap. I have fiberglass fairings and can pretty easily add to it to fill it in I just need to get it done.

I was planning on glassing a adapter piece using the very top of the r6 fairing and mating it up to the fzr fairings.

The nose mount needs several things for mounting to the frame, at least my 05 piece did. First, the mounting tabs on the frame are off center and angled inward a bit.

How did you measure this?

I took a solid piece of aluminum and made an adapter.

have a picture? I was thinking of doing the same thing. But I can't figure out how to measure it.

There is precious little space for guages and I cant use my fancy expensive aftermarket tach now because it wont fit. The R6 guages are very thin, so there just isnt much space if you dont use them. Im running a R1 master cylinder and its close. I am starting to consider the idea of going to those guages, but I still dont think I could get the speedo working, I need to look into this more.

To put the R6 controls on, go with thatkids writeup. The clutch perch will bolt right up to stock clipons, but the clipons do not interchange. Im running a R6 perch so I could run R6 levers.

I striped off the old stuff tonight, I think this should work out well, I'm bidding on some stuff on ebay, But it looks like it will be about $140 including shipping.

It just keeps getting more expensive, as I get farther into this, O well it well look really good, and maybe I will get better gas milage.

Quick question, How do you disconect the cables from the throttle "disc"? I can't figure out how to quick release the cables.

There is no quick release. You have to dissassmeble the control box.

I rough measured the frame mount using a machining protractor and it was off by 14* I think. But like I said it was rough. Then I just ground it with a grinder and checked with a 90* straightedge.

I need to make a new adapter to reposition things. I will take pics and measurements as I go and make an official write up.

I am also going to try to incorporate the FZR frame cooling tubes into the ram system on the r6 upper

Unfortunatly from what I understand, the R6 gas cap will not work as it is a different size.

Very strange. If it works, let others know. I do know that a few people have tried to use the R6 cap without luck. But I also don't know what years they were working with.

I lost the auction for the front master I also lost the rear frame I was bidding on too, but those come up more than the front masters.

Looks like I am going to get a r6 rear shock, from what I have read, some bushings are needed. anyone know were to get these from? Looks like I also need some dogbones?

I am also going to getting some r6 front brakes, any problem mounting these too the fzr forks? and eventually some yzf forks?

will the YZF tank work with the stock seats, I hope so because I will have to put off the tail swap for a awhile and I have a tank coming.

the seats have an extra section that goes into the stock tank cover

So I got a little work done on my Project I integrated my blinkers into my headlights, I used this how-to as a base: Headlight Turn Signals But modified to suit my needs for the 99-02 headlight, I will post up the pictures later.

well Got my yzf Tank, it is in perfect condition, I have to get the fzr 1000 brackets. I also talked to a machinist about the fairing stay and he is going to machine a new bracket cut the old one off and weld on the new one in the proper location....... only costing me $50 dollars. I will get some before after pics.

This is the Led Set you should get...... I have extra I would sell for postage, plus $0.10.

This is the first step after you take apart you head light is to drill a 1/2" hole from the front side

Next step is too cover the area with foil tape.

and the finished product, from this point follow what that other guy did for wiring

Thanks, I need to get the how-to done, So some others doing the R6 headlight mod, can do this.

Spend the money and do the tail swap so you can use the seats as well from the R6.

I plan on doing that, it will just have to wait a awhile for $$$funds.

For those that did the R6 control swap. did you guys move your choke too? what cable did you use the FZR or R6 choke cable?
