Re: Hybrid Revisited
Alright you maniacs, here it is! no screen! I will have to get creative with my ignition since the projector hits the cylinder. Gonna have to relocate it I think. But the light looks SICK!! Still gotta finish up the brackets and make them clean and pretty. I may also drop it down just a hair, but I want it close to the guage and res for neatness.

Looks good. Time to update the signature pic there bud.

And it idles!!! And after running for a little while, the clutch decided to let go and works as well!! I am picking up some new stoppers later today for my 2 bottle synch and Ill synch it later. Runs pretty good for not being tuned or synched at all! It does seem a little rich on the bottom end, I just havent adjusted it yet. it also has a slight surge in the idle.

Looks good. Looks real good. I usually don't like fighters because of the lights, but that light you done is the sh!t. Nice job. Now go get a exhaust can and ride the damn thing. You are taking longer to build a bike then I did.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Re: Hybrid Revisited
It LIVES!!! It made its first trip around the block in 2.5 years! First impressions:
Its FAST with the 14/47 and all the goodies ive got and will be faster and smoother after a tune
Ive got a midrange stumble I need to tune
My brakes scare me they grab so well. R6 Calieprs/MC/EBC HH pads/Stainless lines
the chain appears to still be hitting the rearset mount. May just need a tightenging.
Open header sounds badass-shut it Duane-but I cant keep it that way cuz Denver sucks.
Riding around the block is wholly unsatisfying when you havent ridden in 2 years.

Re: Hybrid Revisited
Where did I leave off... I changed the main jet from 117.5 to 115 and the engine is much happier in so many ways. Idle is more under control, and the throttle is snappy but the carbs still need a little tweaking. I am going to change the fuel level a bit next and see how that affects things, but I am going to put a few miles down with these settings to get a feel for it. I also gave them yet another synch, and now the idle is even and strong. Still needs some tuning, but its 10x better than it was a few days ago.
I tweaked the suspension a bit. It turns out that the forks were set all the way out on compression and rebound. No wonder it felt mushy and like I was going to stoppie every time I touched the brakes. The rear feels really good as is, so I am going to wait to get some more seat time before messing with it too much.
I got a bunch of little parts in today that i really needed. everything for my can mount link, my LED plate lights, and a super strong rare earth magnet for the speed sensor. Its going to be tricky to keep the magnet and sensor aligned on the rear given the chain adjusters. Im going to have to think about this. There is no good way to mount the sensor to these forks.
I made a stop by the hardware store and should now have all the extra hardware I need to assemble everything like my headlight and the can mount. I still need to clean up my headlight brackets and paint them, thats a job for tomorrow if the weather is nice, it better be. Im going to wire up that damn low level relay tonight too. I dont really have a place to put it at the moment, but I need to redo most of the wiring in front of the carbs anyway, so Ill clean it up then.
The nice fender eliminator got cut up. Its purdy and would look nice with undertail cans, but Im not using them right now, so I need something closer to the tail. Its working out well and is as low profile as a plate mount can be I guess. Im using LED plate bolts for the license plate. Handy little things.
And most importantly, I insured and registered the bike. It is now legal to be operated upon public roads. Well mostly legal. Close enough. Tomorrow will be for tying up loose ends, retorquing everything, and a few short test rides to make sure it behaves before I venture toward the exhaust shop on friday. Theyre going to be making my midpipe to mount up my R6 shorty can. Then on friday after they finish my exhaust, I will proceed to ride the tits off it.

Re: Hybrid Revisited
Ok, adjusting fuel level. Bad idea. Stock fuel level seems to be where its at at a mile high elevation. The carbs are almost there, its got a wicked howl from 5k and up. I think one more adjustment of the needle clip tomorrow and some slight tweaking of the AF screws should be the final changes. i rode it around for about 2 hours today and it feels great! It feels so solid and sure-footed. The whole setup feels very natural to me, which is suprising considering I havent ridden in over 2 years, and this one has never been ridden like this. I do need to do something about my clutch. 1, my lever is stiff as hell and it makes my wrist hurt in traffic. I need to lube the cable again for sure. I also need to figure out why my clutch isnt engaging until the last 1/8 movement of the lever. My pushrod is fine and the cable is new and adjusted as close as I can get it. But its killing my wrist, which gives me problems anyway thanks to high school football. A hydraulic clutch is in the works this winter, might need to do it sooner rather than later. I cant wait to get my muffler on so I can really rail on it without worrying as much about the fuzz.

100 mile evaluation:
:tard2:
Despite my best efforts to tune it in, the 115 main seems too big for this altitude. Im sure it would be fine near sea level, but when its cold I get a splutter on the top end. I dropped down to a stock pilot jet and that seemed to get everything else close to happy. Im currently running a 115 main, 32.5 pilot, stock starter, and the needle on clip 3 with a float height of 23mm. It runs great and is wicked fast. the 14/47 is great, but my RPMs are really high while cruising. no road trips for this bike! The suspension is close to being where I want it. It gets a little bouncy at times, but Im thinking its from the rear, not the front. For some reason, the tank likes to spit gas out when the tank is near full. Its kind of irritating, but doesnt seem to be a big issue. Im having some issues with my rearsets as well. Whenever I downshift, the linkage binds and does not want to return, so I have to pull it up with my toe and then shift down again. It seems to be a result of the play in the assembly, Im going to try to tighten it up somehow. Another odd thing I have come to notice is that I only have 5 gears. And now that i think about it, its always been that way. I thought the 600 was a 6 speed! But I have topped it out around 125 over the weekend in 5th gear, so I dont seem to be having any issues from this since this is my expected top speed with my gearing. Just to make sure, i pulled the clutch and checked the shift star, 6 notches- 5 gears+N. I managed to find a way to mount my speed sensor on the calipers after all, and it works like a charm, but I do not see the need to have the speedo read to a tenth of a MPH. I also would like it if the speedo would stay on the screen that I set it on instead of resetting to the tipometer every time I start it. The chain makes a cyclic noise that does not seem to be getting better, almost like there is a tight spot or something, but the chain is new. My starter solenoid keeps coming unplugged too. The blue wire from the CDI. Took me a few days to figure out why it wouldnt startconsistently. I still havent had my midpipe made, but that has been useful in tuning the carbs as I can listen to the engine better. Too bad I need new mains and have to start all over. Luckily I havent been pulled over yet for no muffler. I was sure I was in trouble today when I buzzed past 2 patrol cars parked in a lot I coudlnt see. I was at least at 8k rpm or higher. hehehe opps. One of them followed me for about 2 blocks, but then I made it to my house and he drove on. My rear brake is nearly worthless too. It seems to be grabbing, but doesnt show any appreciable difference when stopping. I have also come to realize I need a lsipper cluttvh. I tend to get a bit aggressive with my compression braking and have smoked the rear tire a few times doing it. I also shoudl not have a need for a steering stabilizer. Thanks to the routing of my cables and wires, the front end is kind of stiff already. Its not noticeable while riding, but moving the bike around can get a little tricky cometimes. I also need to go through the whole dam b ike and loctite every friggin bolt on there. I have lost a handful of bolts over the last week due to vibrations backing them out. Luckily it has not been anything critical since all those bolts are already loctited.
Now, since my luck is so awesome, since Ive had my bike registered for the last week or two, we are expecting snow thias weekend and the temp has been significantly below average. F'ing weather.
I also HATE typgin long posts on this site now since the text box acs all retarded and after every keystroke returns to the top. grrr.

Re: Hybrid Revisited
That bike is bad ass! You really did a great job on it and I was lucky enough to be able to follow it with the rest of the gang here.
I'm not into cold weather either. Our next Track Day in St. Louis will be in the 50's! Never thought I'd need thermals under my leathers...

The FZR 600 IS a six speed.
