FZR 400/600 HYBRID COOLING ?

Post by Fzrmike33 »

Ok guys im moving foward with putting the fzr 600 motor in my 90 fzr 400. What did u guys do for cooling the 600 motor ? i hear the 600 radiator will fit, but not with a fan, so how do u cool the motor?. I need to find these things out so i can get my parts list going, thanks.

you can fab up some nice points for a yzf600 or 636 radiator pretty easliy dependant on your level of fabrication skills...

I fabbed a couple of lower brackets, and tweaked the upper mounting point a bit and made the 600 rad work. If i think of it ill snap a pic or two tonight. Not sure how it fits under stock plastics, as mine are anything but.
I did that.

There is also a mount really low by the headers that you can fab up a piece of aluminum bar to reach down to and connect with the radiator. If you look at pictures of the yzf600r which uses the same outer block cast, you can see yamaha put a factory bracket there while our bikes originally didnt need them. yzf600's dont have the looms though, so theres was suspended. Glad you had some pics on hand though Target. If you need any more help or need pictures of this spot Ill go to my buddies house and snap creepy pictures of his yzf's underparts ... hahah

the fan is on there, works fine. i have the front of my bike lowered a bit also, and dont hit the fender at all.
I did that.
