Pic request for those with R1 front ends

Post by mrfreeze5 »

Bonus points if you have a YZF tank, but not necessary.

Id like to see a shot of your steering at lock to lock. I dont have steering locks on my triple and need to address that soon, but the real issue Im having is the triple is hitting the tank. My YZF tank is pushed forward a bit. i am going to shave my triple a bit, but can only do some much. I need to see how much turning radius I am missing for reference.

I'll have to dig up a picture of mine for you. I've got my tank mounted farther back. Probably 1" back from the steering neck. I have no problems with the triple hitting the tank at all but I do not have steering stops on mine.

I'll find a picture of it and get it up here in the morning.

Yeah, your tank is significantly farther back than mine. I had to cut about an inch off the tank bracket because it hit the frame. There was no other way to do it though, with my subframe. It also helps a lot with riding position. Im not so much concerned about the relationship between the tank and the triple as I am seeing the front end lock to lock. I am going to shave my triple, but I want to try to get a rough visual of how much turning radius I am losing with the way my setup is now.
