Post by shredex »

I was looking at a guys custom fairing build thing and i looked at the back tire and I thought "that thing looks kinda thin...I wonder if it would fit in the fzr swingarm for 17" wheel conversion"

If it's a 17x4.5 then it should. BTW the 200+ bandit 600 rim is supposed to be the same size as the 1997 that I'm working on but it's made in a straight three spoke style sorta like the R1 rim you have. Might check that one too.

The older sv's ran a 160 so it's probably a 5 inch wheel but from the looks of that one it may be 4.5. Best way to know is to check and make sure

I'm pretty sure that the sv650 ran a 4.5" on the rear and a 3.5" on the front. I'd prefer a 4.5" over a 5" anyway 150s and 160s tyres are alot more common then 170s over here.
fzr660/400: fzr400 3en1 frame, 3en2 swinger, custom single seat subframe, fzr660 motor conversion, APE adjustable cam gears, full D&D 4-2-1 exhaust, falicon clutch basket, ignitech ignition, R6 front end with tz250 wheel, ohlins shock, storz steering damper, tzr250 rear wheel.

weighs 166kg wet (25kg lighter than my stock fzr600).

the 3 spoke 4.5" Suzuki rims (GSF 600 has also a 4.5" rim, later models with straight spokes) fit into the FZR swingarm, you have to use the sprocketcarrier of the GS500E and some custom bushings
btw there is a instruction for the conversion on the german FZR Forums if anyone can read it :D

The rim should fit.

Also, hate to say it, but I can't access that file unless I register. Any way you could download it and send it to me?

anyone have any more info on this? I found an sv650 rim locally and I have a 160 tire to put on it. I want to try it, but I need more info on the subject. I'll probably get the rim and try it anyway..Thanks!
