Yes, as I understand it, the 3XV is the banana-arm. In any case, I'm 95% sure the model years you're looking for are 91-95. My particular rim is off a '91. And the problem with the bearings were with the actual wheel bearings. I think we did a 3-step bushing that took care of the wheel and sprocket carrier at the same time, but it was a while ago and I've been overseas for six months, so I don't know.

Good luck!
Silver,
Presumably you elected to keep the stock FZR axle and made the RH bearing sleeve , inner wheel spacer and the LH wheel bearing sleeve and Sprocket bearing sleeve as one piece. Neat idea for easy assembly.

Yamaha_George,

You are right, I kept the FZR axle. As I recall, we made two separate sleeves- one for the right (driver's perspective) two-step to both fill the void between the FZR axle and TZR bearings, and also to occupy the space inside the oil seal. Same thing on the other side, really, but I just can't remember why it was three-step...

I'll have to take the wheel out when I get back to put the 683 in, so I'll try to take pictures. But, once the sleeves are in, it's a totally transparent process, they'll never fall out accidentally. It works beautifully, and the rim is gorgeous. Highly recommended. Kudos to ModKing for finding this.

Silver,
If you can take pics that would be great I can then add that to the WIKI as another solution.

IF you can measure the pieces and I can put rough dimensions for buy a bit of steel to do the job.

Thanks in advance
Geo

It's a 17x4.5" on a stock FZR arm. The only mod to the arm I did was to enlarge the axle adjuster bore and enlarge the axle slot to fit a 20mm axle.

I don't have any except the pics I posted. I can get more at a later date if you really need them. It's pretty simple. I painted the area around the axle slot with machinest dye, scribed lines 1.5 mm above and below and parralel to the original slot. I then took a die grinder and opened the slot up to just before the scribed lines. I then smoothed and straightened and brought the opening out to the scribed lines with a handfile. I had the adjusters that fit inside the arm bored to fit the 20mm axle. That's what has been done to the arm. I also modded the brake arm by grinding off the mounting tabs on one side of both ends so that it could be mounted outboard for tire clearance. There is more involved to the swap then just arm mods. The cush drive needs to be machined and spacers need to be made as well. By the sounds of it the TZR wheel is much simpler if you can find one.

I put a TZR250 rear wheel into my fzr400 a couple of weeks ago and it was a pretty straight forward swap. All that's needed is two spacers and these become captive so the making wheel changes alot easier. I've got the dimensions of the spacers written down and will post them up later. The one thing you guys with the 600s will need is the fzr400 caliper bracket and fzr400 caliper as the tzr250 uses the same 210mm disc.

Another wheel that is apparently also a good swap is the rgv250 VJ22 wheel which is similarly light and is also the 4.5" x 17". I've seen one of these mounted in a fzr600 track bike.
fzr660/400: fzr400 3en1 frame, 3en2 swinger, custom single seat subframe, fzr660 motor conversion, APE adjustable cam gears, full D&D 4-2-1 exhaust, falicon clutch basket, ignitech ignition, R6 front end with tz250 wheel, ohlins shock, storz steering damper, tzr250 rear wheel.

weighs 166kg wet (25kg lighter than my stock fzr600).

Double link, but here is a TZR rim that someone is willing to ship from the UK. George might be able to offer better shipping rates than this guy though.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

shipping rates from the UK are just stupid expensive ALWAYS. Has to do with the price relation for everything in the UK. Shipping from Germany is WAY cheaper. Go figure.
