'07 R1 tail on FZR600
Here is a pic of it. I'm fitting an '07 R1 tail on my FZR600. I'm waiting for the tail light to arrive and I still need an undertail.
Re: '07 R1 tail on FZR600
Nice. Are you going to convert to the R1 exhaust as well? Looks like your modifing the stock FZR subframe to work as well. Keep us posted on the progress.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.
Something is lurking, waiting, wanting to be built......It calls to me from the darkness....
I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel....Then I realize that it is the train coming to run my ass over....

The tail looks absolutely tiny on that bike. Hope the undertail adds more to it.

no the r1 exhaust would require much more fab than i am capable of.

thats what i was going for. i hate fat tails ( on bikes and women).
Re: '07 R1 tail on FZR600
Much skinnier than the 99-02 tail. I like it!

Re: '07 R1 tail on FZR600
Id like to see it when your done and with some side fairings on it.
Re: '07 R1 tail on FZR600
alright... so I've got the tail, undertail and taillight here at my house. I'm waiting for the front and rear seats to get here. Once I have them I'll really get to work modding this thing. It probably wont be for a while though because i leave for Denmark on the 17th. As for side fairings, this is a streetfighter so none of those!! I problem I've already found is that the rear light stays constant, as in it wont get brighter when brake is applied. R1 light is LED. Anyone have a cure?

figure out a resistor to put in line....something that makes up teh difference in teh load from teh stock lights to the R1 lightTravis wrote:alright... so I've got the tail, undertail and taillight here at my house. Re: '07 R1 tail on FZR600
What are you going to do about the big giant hole in the tank cover where the seat used to go?
Re: '07 R1 tail on FZR600
Glass it or buy a yzf tank.

I cant comment on the glassing method, but I know when I went to my 06 R1 tail and YZF tank, the seat wont mate cleanly with the tank. The shape is not the same. I had to unstaple the cover and trim the seat pan and foam, then restaple. It might fit better with the fzr tank since its slimmer, . But I probably had quite a few more issues than you will though since I used the subframe as well. I had clearance issues between the battery and tank and had some difficulty making a rear mount for the tank. Are you going to fab a mount for the rear seat? It will take some fabrication and reinforcement to make the seat functional, but not too much to just hold it on.
As for the taillight, you shouldnt need a resistor. Its built in to the light. The color scheme for the wiring is the same as FZR, you just need to splice the correct harness connector on and it should work. Mine required no modification other than the plug, but again, it was an 06.
Overall I think its looking nice and the lines all fit pretty well. It should look great with the seats and undertail on.
