integrated r6 taillight

Post by milkmandan »

So I'm putting a 99 r6 tail on my fizzer and I got one of those integrated LED taillights for it. Now the brake lights use the same 3-pin connector as the FZR, but the turn signals only have 2 wires! how do I hook them up to the 4 wire leads on the fizzer? Thanks

If it's anything like the integrated tail light I have on my fizzer, you wind up not using the two black ground wires from the turn signals. Most integrated turn signals will use the only the ground(s) hooked into the taillights/brakelights to ground the turn signals, as they usually use the same bulbs. I haven't cleaned it up yet, but when mine was installed by the previous owner, he just cut the black wires by the connectors and crimped 2 crimp connectors on the ends to keep bare wires from floating around back there. my2cents

Hope that helps.

the_finch was correct, the two wires were the positive leads for the turn signals. Gotta love bolt on parts!

I am using this same setup. But when I hooked up the 2 wires for the integrated signals whichever side is not flashing, the other side is flashing red. It is kinda confusing, I will get some pictures tomorrow.

Crappy Video, signals were freaking out because the front ones weren't hooked up yet.

Here's a *BUMP* for help.

Holy crap that looks like Christmas lights.

One should just stay solid, obviously. I'm kinda glad I just kept the stupid-looking huge John Holmes stalk blinkers.

When I got my FZR it had an integrated tail light on it already, but the previous owner removed the front turn signals. Without the front turn signals hooked up to complete the circuit, my tail light freaked out, and no matter whether you told it right or left it flashed like an emergency flasher. banghead

Hmm, I haven't gotten my front signals in yet, hopefully that'll fix it.
