PM Count being Reduced...
Instead of reacting, I'm attempting to be Proactive.
At the end of January, we'll be changing the total PMs available, per folder, for storage from 150 to 75.
Why are we doing this? Simple. We're working within a space parameter and we need to adhere to that. Reducing the number of PMs will really help us out and keep the operating costs lower.
So, you have plenty of time to remove or copy and store the PMs that you already have in your Inbox and Sent Items boxes before the end of the month.
If you have any questions or comments, please let me know.
Happy Fizzing!

then set your & Mod's who deal with more than Joe Blow members like me a high quota but give the average member (like me ) less storage. that must be doable surely by group memberships
I have to my knowledge had no more than 15 inbox stored messages at any one time , outgoing I have run up a few but have pruned them out when I remember top do it :-}

Re: PM Count being Reduced...
I wish I could do that. I need to look into a program modification that allows me to specify how many PMs should be available per group.

George that's a great suggestion however in liue of that Darrin how would using our email functions as an alternative for MODS? PMs for regular stuff Email for official site business??? That may be a slight inconvience for so MODs, who know but I thought I would put that out there. (MODNAME@fzronline.com)

If it is POP3 mail not webmail that would certainly cut down space usage,ShogunTX wrote:George that's a great suggestion however in liue of that Darrin how would using our email functions as an alternative for MODS? I have no objection the other way is that PM's get directed to personal mail boxes else where ie yamaha_george@FZROnline.com get re-directed to george AT saltmine dot org dot uk.
when I travel I can ask the re direct to go to a pop3 account which is not on my harvest list and is sitting on my personal mail server so that no matter where I am I have access via web or pop3
Or we could try this style (not the financial bit ) but between mod group & user group :-

Re: PM Count being Reduced...
We actually have something very similar. We limit non donors to a certain MB storage for photos and that's a big help.yamaha_george wrote:Or we could try this style (not the financial bit ) but between mod group & user group
I don't want you guys to think we're in a crunch or anything, because we're not. We have 2500 MB to play with and we're using around 630 MB right now. BUT, we've only been doing this for close to 8 months now, so that is my real concern. As long as we stay on top of keeping it low, we'll be fine down the road.
As far as an email account for MODs. Do we want a group email where everyone can check OR an individual one for each of you? I can do it either way.

Re: PM Count being Reduced...
Now you are talking just storage space not bandwidth usage correct?
