the life of my bike, a history in pictures

Post by Target30 »

I figured i would finally put together pictorial of the start to finish(almost) of my bike. realistically it will never be finished, as i just can seem to stop, but it is very close to where i want it. i'm going to try to keep it as close to chronological as i can.

I know most of you guys hate reading long posts, so i'm going to do this in pictures...Here goes

To preface this, i owned an 89 FZR600 in college. an untimely end into the side of a Cadillac got me out of the game for a while, that was back in '94.

my first lady...
Image

New girl when i brought her home in 2001(i think) 1994FZR600
Image

first mod, R6 tail! and bought a cheap non running 92 for my wife. she never rode it. sold it to a guy who sold it a few years later to Tomgun!
Image

made a custom undertail. the bug really started kicking in!
Image

decided to go a route noone else has taken, Ducati upper! and misc other body parts. insanity started kicking in!
Image
Image

started to build a custom dash, with a Veypor to show me how slow i ride.
Image

painted(with spray gun, first time ever) not bad, this lasted almost a whole year!
Image
Image

it neeed more! and as luck would have it, China Racer blew up his TZR250, and i could always use a new swingarm and 17" rear wheel!
Image

into the garage again for test fitment.
Image

Body panels off, something else needs to be done, what could it be...FZR400 frame!
Image

bunch of pics from a year worth of her on jacks and hanging from strap in the garage
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

and she's done! or is she....
Image

met up with a couple of guys from the board, notice the 2nd blue FZR in, thats Tomguns (or was) the same siver and red bike from the previous pic.
Image

that lasted a couple months, what else? A new tank! FZR400rrsp!
Image

wasnt riding, so i figured i'd try my hand at fiberglass, needed a seat cowl sooooo...ZX6R cowl! (there is a write up for this on here)
Image
Image

and she's done! (with some gentle coaxing from Sweekster, i painted the forks and R6 can)
Image
Image

Just kidding! not done!

The plastics were getting a bit worn, and i wanted to try my hand at painting again...sooo
Image
Image
Image
Image

my daughter helping wet sand!
Image

and paint!
Image

a few of how she sits now, as of saturday. (Tomgun traded up to the Duc in the pic)
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

What color is it? BMW Arctic Silver.
Image

Left to do?
I have to finish the dash and upper side filler panels. Over the winter some of it comes apart to send to ThatKid for powder and millwork. Then i'm done! maybe....

Whats on the bike?

90 FZR400 frame
94 FZR600 powerplant
TZR250 swingarm, 17" rim and brake, with CF hugger
FZR400 forks with some internal upgrades and emulators.
FZR400 front rim.
R6 can
FZR400RRSP tank
R6 tail(and subframe), with custom cowl, undertail
Ducati upper and lights
GSXR bellypan and original FZR600 fairings molded together and upgraded
Veypor digital gauges
520 chain and sprockets
r6 blue spot front calipers and master cylinder/lever
R1 front fender
ChinaRacer's amazing rearsets
custom dash (work in progress)
steering stabilizer(cant remember brand)
R6 rear shock, custom shock linkage.

That should cover it, hope you enjoyed the ride. RRBike
I did that.

Side fairings turned out nice.

That is a seriously MODed FZR... in almost every aspect. It's a lot of work...

You should be very proud!

Yeah unfortunatly I have a mismatched motif as well. Orange/silver/white/& black bike, flat black helmet, girlfriends is hot pink, then I have a blue and silver mesh jacket and blue and black icon gloves. Then I have an orange silver and brown leather jacket that it's about time to whip out.

I always wondered what swingarm you had on there, that's a beauty. Nice body/paint work, just make sure your Daughter doesn't wet sand it. When my Son was young he helped me strip wallpaper, he also stripped the new lol.

Any chance of a rear view (the undertail tail lamps) I have a similar undertail & didn't use it, But that looks sleek.

Bro, I always thought your bike was unique. glad I could help with thre swingarm adn rear sets. Your work on this is shinning through now. Looks great!

Are those stock forks? got a set of progresive springs if your interested. cheap cheap cheap. they are Hagon brand frm the UK i have used Hagon for a number of years now with no issues.

I also have spare clip ons (2 sets actually). If you want they are yours for the taking.

I like the silver instead of the blue as well. Makes it really stand out I think.

Have fun riding it! Greatr Jon!

Thanks steve! I do have progressive springs already, they are the 400 forks from the race bike i bought for the frame. I want your good forks! unfortunately right now my wife would kill me if i spent $500 for forks when it could go to, well, baby food and such! haha! i did want to ask you about the rearsets though, one of mine turned bronze, kinda weird, they were both powdercoated black and beautiful when i got them, one is still perfect, but one is like all the powder came off, but no chipping or anything, just like it turned. they are going to nate(thatkid) over the winter for refinishing, just wondered if you encountered this before and if they needed special prep. anyhow, i'll pm you the pics, is interesting. if you still have the nice forks set up for the 400 frame in a couple months i might be able to sneak them past the wife!
I did that.

I'm thinking the exact same thing, possible CC usage, that front end is a steal. no cash = banghead
