I'm sure he'll add a little bit too but since I have the photos I figured I'd get it going. Sweeky D decided to head to the windy city to help me out in the shop. I was falling behind and needed an unpaid shop lackey who knew what was up. I have other shop lackeys who are in training to know what is up but it wasn't enough. This is his story.....

When Duane arrived his GPS helped him get lost. Finally after finding me we headed to Fridays for some drinks where he scared off our waitress and we had to get another one.

The next day Duane had to go into the city to be all executive, big wig type. It took him awhile to get to the shop. Once he finally did get there, he, Em, Matt and I spent from about 5pm-3am in the shop with a break in the middle for some much needed sushi and beer.

Duane was determined to fix bike in a box so I could sell it and finish up the idle issue on the dirt bike so I could get paid for it. It took him two days and bike in a box punched him in the shin but he got them both to the best they were going to be.

Day two (Friday) was a slow start. Had to pick up the mill motor and didn't get back to the shop till about 3pm. Duane, Em and I got the mill off the 4" blocks it was on and onto solid ground. My way was not OSHA approved and probably not for the faint of heart either. After 3 of us wrenching and climbing all over the mill we finally got the motor back in. This was an hour and half later. It didn't work. My mood was shot after that. Still, we left the shop sometime around 3am again.

Day 3 (Saturday) We busted out some serious time in the shop. I believe it was a 12pm-2am shift. Lots of things were powdercoated and my new oven was on it's way. I'll be able to do frames soon! Not FZR 600 frames sadly but anything else with a removable subframe. The oven has internal dimensions of 4' tall x 3' wide x 2' 2" deep.

Day 4 (Sunday) It was the final day. We slowly worked on things and drank kool-aid, did more powdercoating, finished rebuilding another set of FZR forks, and ate more sushi.

All in all Duane pulled his weight no problem in the shop and if I ever get big and famous I'll hire him on as a lackey just so I can boss him around.

Bike in a Box finished and running well. $2200 takes her home. Tell your friends. Full service performed and only 3300 miles on her. Pretty low miles for a 94. :)

When you put in 40 hours in 4 days you start to go a little crazy.

Em's wheel with the rotor fresh out of the oven.

She's a bit happy.

So happy in fact she had to lick them.

More wheel photos. (I have to whore them out)

Duane undoing the massive amounts of tape.

Wide angle is fun.

My oven. It has a top and a bottom now. Just waiting on the inside and the door. Hopefully this weekend. The middle bar is where the trolley will run to carry everything into the oven.

A parting goodbye of sweeky D. He will be missed.

You forget to add that Dillon (AKA Zero) came down to the shop on Saturday for a bit as well. Otherwise the account was pretty accurate. I can say that I had great time helping out. Me and bike in the box fought and I can say I won. Also, the pics don't do any of the powder coated justice. The colors pretty much dance in person. That place is also a musical time warp. You can easily lose 3 hours and not know it. Also couldn't ask for a better set of shop lackies in Em and Matt. Willing to learn but also don't get in the way. It was also great watching the Zen Master at work. Nate's got skills. Just never enough time to really put them to use. Soon Bubba Soon Thanks for having me Nate. I plan on coming back soon...my next task will be to clean Chloe.

I'm hoping Chloe gets a cleaning before then. She'll be pretty darn dirty otherwise.

Shouts out to Dillon. I can't believe I didn't add him to the post. He'll hate me forever now. But I'll still ask for forgiveness.

Oh I also taught Duane a thing or two about underground hip hop. This white boy knows his music. :D

Pic looks great!

I'm sure Duane was right in his element there. He has needed something to do like this for a while - put all that knowledge to work again.

So being the glutton for punishment that I am, Mancation occurred at Nates again this year. Went back to work on some stuff and visit with good friends. My camera was confiscated from me by a better photog person and picture taking commenced. I lied to everyone and showed up 1 day earlier than they were expecting. The look on Nate's face was classic. Nate changed a lot of things around-which I complained about for almost an hour screwy . Then Em started taking pics:

Image

Also got to witness Andy (aka Gre3nskeeper) work his magic on a few sets up of carbs. Talk about making them look brand new!!!

Image

Um...yeah it's leaking from under here...

Image

Ok third time is the charm:

Image

Some people have already seen the video of Dillon (aka Zero) riding Le Scooper around. This thing brings smiles every time...

Image

First you do this (have some poor schlub (Me) get on while you kick start it):

Image

Then when he rides away without hurting himself you do this and bask in the awesomeness of it all:

Image

Then after the shenanigans we got to working on some bikes. I was reminded of a promise I made to Em last year. It was to get her bike to at least a rolling chassis. So that's what we did.

You start here:

Image

Pause a bit so the owner can enjoy what's hapening:

Image

You get to here and have a drink of water:

Image

Then the beast needs it's heart prepped:

Image

And now they meet:

Image

And become 1:

Then we ate. We did do other stuff. Nate gave me a few kayaking lessons- which I'm pretty much in love with kayaking now. Also got some climbing lessons from Nate, Dillon, and Emily at a climbing gym close to Dillon's place in Milwaukee. I can totally see why people climb now. Safe to say that the Second Annual Mancation was Epicly Awesome. Thanks again to Nate for having me out. To Dillon and Emily and Andy for coming out and enduring the humid weather to wrench with us and just hang. I'll be back again soon.

Heh, Em was concerned about riding a 600 so we flipped a few things around and she'll soon be riding a 600 frame with a 400 motor.
