13 years later the motor starts

Now it doesn't run smooth yet but this motor has sat for 13 years. At first it wouldn't even turn over and we had to use a wrench on the flywheel bolt and rock it back and forth until it did a full revolution. Then, it cranked and cranked and still nothing. Changed out 9e's for some 8e and cranked some more. Switched out the fuel pump and cranked and got a different sound. So we kept cranking. Finally!

Bike in a Box LIVES!!!

Soon to be sold. Only 3300 miles on the motor and bike.

Oh I forgot to add the nice $15 oil change is now ruined. After it running for about a minute or so the oil now looks like a light chocolate milk. The engine isn't smoking so I don't think it's a coolant leak. My guess is it just cleaned out all the nasty ass residue that was in there.

Should I run it a bit more to get more out or change the oil and then run it again and hope most of it's gone so I don't have to change the oil and filter a 3rd time?

Add seafoam, run it 50 miles, change it once more and be done. See it to someone that will love it.

Congrats on the crate bike.

Chris.

a lil ATF in the oil will help too

its FULL of detergents

not sure how well it plays with the wet clutch cuz ive never done it to a bike before, just old cars/trucks

What is the story behind this bike? Why was it in a box for 13 years?

Correct me if i'm wrong nate but I believe the guy was planning on rebuilding it, and just never got around to it. It sat and sat until he was like, eff this i'll just sell it.... 13 years later.... haha

That is pretty much it. Guy bought it in 94 new. Crashed it in 96. Drained all fluids and stored it. I picked it up complete minus a front end for 300 with 3300 miles on the motor.
