Okay. here's teh first vid from the new GoPro Hero Motorsports wide angle camera..
I made a compilation of views/angles....the helmet mounted view at the start was funky-needed to be pointed down the road more....
That is followed by camera behind me looking forward, behind me looking backwards, and tank mounted looking forward
All except the helmet view were done with the included suction cup(impressive grip).
each segment is about 1 minute, I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on the angles... :

Go read the 'Life is good' thread. Details about cost etc.
No wheelies 'cause I was just playing with angles...which do you like?
I am right now uploading some taken looking forward from right by the stator cover...

is that the camera that suctions to the bike?
I know a few riders with it. they love it.
I want one but dont have the $200 whatever it is for one.
It depends what type of vid your making for whatever view.
if you wanna do one with just you riding tking some twisties then do ALL the views.
I like the helmet mount for documentery style deal.

I've seen some vids of the side fairing mounting, which I like the best. Being able to see the ground increases your sense of the speed, and it "shows" the twisties much better. Other than that, the tank mounted looks good.
Have fun!

-I've seen the rear view with someone riding behind so it's good if a buddy wants some footage of him from the front, if he can keep up
-The helmet view is cool but it looks like it was on top of the helmet, lower down and aimed more up would keep the bike in the frame and get more horizon. Aimed up with the bike out of the vid would make a cool flying look to the vid, take out the bike audio and insert mellow, trip hop, etc
-If you're going to take up half the frame with an ill fitted jacket at least have a passenger the rest of us can enjoy (my jacket doesn't fit right either)
-totally in for the side mount vid, I expect it to be my favorite and have been playing with ideas for a homemade mount for regular point and shoots since I have a spare to sacrafice

I agree with the Fizz that the tank cam is the best. Also agree that they radar needs to remain where it's at. So that's what a smog less sky looks like huh? Wow...

, i love the double take on the girl in the beginning. agreed that the helmet cam needs to point up the road a bit further. aside from that i like the tank mount, and if you can get the video of the fairing mount i'm sure that'd be good too

Heya! here's a new one, with the sidemount view....same road as my "I like sweepers' post a week or so ago.....
(and yeah, I KNOW I crossed the centerline..I hit that patched pothole that goes by on my right just about every time I run that-and I wasn't gonna this time!)

Yup, stick with the sidemount!
Great another thing I want to start saving up for... or at least a mount/intervalometer for my Nikon to do time lapse.

do you have a picutre of it mounted with the suction cup? I think the side mount with some tighter stuff and better lean angles would turn out great . I'd just be concerned with it scraping if it sticks out too far

WSM, the suction cup mount is manufactured by PanaVise:
Will, I was just playing, short runs and various mounts/angles so far. I rode 300 miles today, through all kinds of stuff. Have the stuff uploaded but not reviewed yet.....hang tight on the twisties, 'cause I got 'em...
Here's some pics: (the actual camera unit was inside the house uploading when I took these-so you are seeing the bare housing) Tank mounted
side mounted away from the body...
side mounted close to body
Again, close to bike body
As you can see, the suction mount is articulated so you can do interesting stuff with it. Thye include a coupling that will turn the end connection 90°.
I am VERY impresssed with how it sticks. Like I said up there..I rode 300 miles today, at up to 130, on smooth stuff, bumpy stuff. I left the house thinking I should add a safety lanyard....and I prolly should...but it wasn't necessary
