Blingin the Fizz!

Since I had to yank the motor out, and I have to wait to get some parts in still to finish the bike once again, I decided what the hell... Let's Bling it out.. :D

Still not done.. Have to sand and polish up the peanut cover. Then clean the motor, slap on some high heat primer, followed by a high heat flat black paint. Then sand the inside of the frame and spray on some flat black paint in there as well.. I'm still undecided on the rims yet, but I might still polish the lips. And as for the swing-arm.. I'll do that in the winter if and when I do a swap on it..

So here they are...

In this pic you'll notice a little area not polished.. I've got different plans for that area..

Thanks 95. It's coming along.. Burn up most of the day though doing the frame alone.

Too much time Mega..

RRBike -- Eventually I'll resemble this emoticon D...

MX -

Started with a full can of Easy Off Heavy Duty Oven Cleaner.. didn't pull the anodized finish off entirely so I switched to the sanding discs.. 240 Grit then 400 Grit..

Then I went to the trusty old "FINE" steel wool and wore my arm out....

Then I had picked up a buffing kit from a local store.. 4 Compounds in total.. Used in this order:

Black Emery Tripoli
Brown Tripoli
White Diamond
Red Rouge

After each step you can see the process starting to take shape. And you can see yourself a little bit better in the shine each time.
Once that was done, I used Mother's Wheel polish by hand to get it on there, then buffed it off with an orbital buffer..

It's nowhere near the quality that ModKing has shown, however, I'm extremely happy with it and hopefully I'll have things back together shortly.

can't remember the black one.. :hyprocrite

But yeah, I'm gonna paint the section where the subframe meets the frame black, then the downtubes black to make it flow from front to back.. I should have all the polishing done today sometime, and likely have the inside of the frame sanded and painted as well as the downtubes..

The next big thing is cleaning up the motor, masking and painting it which I hope to at least be starting today sometime..

hahahhah

nag thats not what the PO did to mine........he powdercoated the part by the rear sets where the boots rub....black, andthe subframe part too though, the 89+ dont have downtubes to do anything with.

boots will really kill the polsih, you should think of painting that part black too!

Yeah I was thinking about that.. I'm gonna put a few layers of clear coat on there and see how it goes. If it gets too bad, I'll coat it black.. Tryin to get motivated today right now.. decided to go out for a bit and stop at my parents :)

More updates tonight I hope.. :headbang:

Thanks Tom!

Here's a few more updates.. Just have to mask off the frame now, paint the inside of it, and one spot on the outside.. We've got the motor hoisted up with a chain block now so I can start working on the cleaning and painting of that.. Probably Sunday by the time the motor's done which will undoubtedly push back when I wanted to have the motor back in the frame, but meh....

Anyways, enjoy...

That wraps it up for today.. tomorrow, I'll remove the coils and any brackets from inside the frame, give it a quick sand down, prime and paint it black as well..

And then, I got a lil something special planned for the swinger.. I'm pretty sure it's not something that's been done very often.. You'll just have to see how it looks in the next few days
