Things that make you go eww!

Post by thatkid »

I'm trying to clean up a pair of Tokico calipers I got with the parts lot. They will be nice and pretty once they are done, but dear lord I'm not even sure how a caliper gets to this point. It was in every single piston housing.
Image

This one looks like the PO drilled between the two housing to allow for more pressure?? It's done on all of them and it doesn't look factory. I would assume it would add more braking force but someone else chime in if they know.

They sure are. Once they get soaked in some sort of cleaner for like a week!

But that isn't grease! That's supposed to brake fluid....or what brake fluid turns into after a really long and hard life.

They were probably on a race bike at one time and who ever had them probably used a master that was not matched to them and drilled them to correct for any "wooden" feeling they would give off. But that's just my theory. I'm sure this is something George or one of our other racing members have dealt with and could give a much better explanation. That is pretty gross though.

Except from duane and I can gather, these are off a 96-01 I think it was ZX6. I'm not having much luck with finding a seal kit though.
