It's time to start the Rebuild Thread

I didn't want to start one yet because I haven't really done much but I guess I'll keep this updated when I get new things going on. So far most of the stuff you've seen already. The fork rebuild is about the only new image set.

This thread will also be a dual purpose thread. It will follow my current build on the 400 frame but will also show some work going into the 600 framed bike that will be for sale come spring.

Cleaning parts. Those of you that followed my last build know how OCD I am about cleaning parts.

Clean front wheel

Clean front forks and painted lowers.

Fixing the scuffed peanut cover.
Image

The Cobra F1 exhaust pulled apart and cleaned up.
Image

Cleaned and hi-temp painted the inside of the muffler before it gets repacked and put back together.
Image

The pimptastical paint job on the rotors for the bike I'm selling.
Image

The top tree in anodized blue glory! The 600 frame bike is going to be black/blue/silver.
Image

The new body! Had to have some dents filled so I could have one sweet looking 400 frame once it gets powdercoated.
Image

Cleaned up the front calipers. Not sure if I'm going to have them powdercoated or not yet, but I pulled all the seals and pistons just in case.

Attempting to get the top section off. The R1 fork is not easy to work on without the proper tools. I did get creative and made it a little easier but man, not something I want to do often.

I'm trying to show the small dent in the lower left corner of the gold fork tube. It came that way and it doesn't hit anything or cause any problems but I'd like to fix it. Problem is I have no idea how. I can't mar up the inside of the tube so I don't know if it can be fixed. Any ideas?

That's all I have for right now. I need to get over being sick (been so for the last 2.5 week) and then maybe I can get my ass in gear for the things that are going to take some serious time.

Yes you've been quiet lately nate. I don't think you'll be able to do anything about the dent. You could try but I imagine you would prolly cause more harm than good. I'd say watch ebay, sometimes you get broken down fork parts so you might be able to get a new one seperate.

I dont think its very possible to fix it without causing more damage...if it doesnt effect the shock, then maybe just fill the outside of it like you did the frame and paint them that awesome blue you did the triple and sprocket!

3 motorcycle builds....don't forget there's a lonely scopper in the corner patiently waiting for his time to come.

Dillon was definitely the more productive one this weekend. I just cannot shake this bug I have. Still I think I'm going to finish up some designs so I can start on some of the massive tasks ahead.

Oh and I ordered up some new fork seals today. Still need to get some oil. A much lighter oil than whatever was in there before. I'm tired of taking flight on every bump.

An Update! I've started the engine rebuild. Not so much a whole rebuild, mainly resealing everything. The compression was horrible in this motor it's getting all new seals, rings, and cylinder walls honed. I also found I had an antifreeze leak into the oil so it's a good thing those seals are going on. As for the rusty pistons, it's all a light surface rust that comes right off. There was a water leak above the motor one day and it all went into that cylinder. It'll be nice and pretty before the motor goes back together.

Heh, this motor is going in the bike I'm selling so no 660 motor. Maybe down the road on one of the other motors....
