Part cleaning and my 400 frame all dent free.

Post by thatkid »

Lots of time was spent in the basement this weekend. A lot of parts got clean/fixed/painted. Since everyone likes pictures I'll let them do the talking.

There were a couple scrapes in the top I filled in. Once it gets powdercoated you'll never know.

They only come cleaner from the factory!

Same issue...a few scrapes all filled in. Has since been sanded down but forgot to take a picture of it.

Rotors got painted for the 600 frame for when I sell it. Color scheme is changing to black/anodized blue/silver as it's more popular and should make the bike easier to sell.

Rear Brembo got stripped of paint and is on its way to get powdercoated. It will probably be for sale and setup so it will be a direct bolt on for the FZR. I may bundle it with a powdercoated loaded rear caliper and brake arm/mount etc. Basically a whole rear brake assembly.

The top clamp. It is a deeper blue but the flash takes away the true color. I'll get some better pictures when I have sunlight.

And then the pride and joy.. It will be getting powdercoated so you'll never know there was filler there. The guy I used pulled the dents out as far as he could and then used filler to smooth it up before it goes to get coated. And smooth it is. Now this frame is truly in excellent condition.

Eventually I will start a rebuild thread for the 400 frame but for now there just isn't enough to start one.

I'm just so lazy about shaving. It is to that itchy point....especially with a dust mask on. Longest I went was 6 months I think. When I went into the woods big foot took pictures of me!

It's hard to do so much work on these parts knowing they are going to be sold off come april if I'm lucky. But I know how much all of you like picture porn so I'll keep going with it.

What kind of filler did you use? Did you talk to the powder coater about body filler?

I ask this because my buddy's chopper just got powder coated. He was going to have the fuel tank and fender done. He used metallic body filler, but it wasn't a brand that the powdercoater 'appproved'. The powder lifted everywhere there was a trace of filler.

Bondo is a brand name of body filler.
