Yeah, I polished up the area where the letters were going to be.. Then I made up the "decal" in Paint Shop.. printed it onto some sticky sheets and stuck it on the bike then cut out the lettering.. Primed, then painted and peeled off the lettering.

Not a whole hell of a lot going on until I get all the parts in.. I'm done the wheels now and there's a couple pics comin.. Found out the wiring harness I have is shit.. took a LOT of working and re-doing some connections, but I *think* I've got it to the point of working now.. I haven't tested things out just yet, but I'll do that in the next few days to work out those kinks.. I am missing a relay block, but should have one by the end of the week I hope..

I also actually need the tach housing.. I got the tach from Drakeco, however, the 400 tachs are completely different internally than the 600 tach.. I pulled it apart and it just doesn't even mount in there properly.. If anyone's got one lyin around, please let me know.. Otherwise, I'll have to butcher the current one I've got and see how that goes..


Anywho... here's the pics of the rims.. Nothing special.. and I took a couple more shots of the frame/swingarm since they're clearcoated now..

BTW, yes, the rear tire looks like shit, and no I don't care.. I'm gonna run those tires as long as I can before changing them out..

weeeeee.. quick update. Got the lighting circuit working correctly. Still can't check all the idiot lights (neutral/oil) until I get everything properly mounted, but what a friggin mess that wiring harness was. Everything on the 600 is reversed on the 400.. The wires are the same, just the plugs are backwards and the pin-outs in the plugs is almost completely opposite. Ahh well, it's slowly coming back to life.

And an update to this thread can only mean one thing... Progress...

The motor's mounted and it's only a couple of hours away from actually firing it up I'd say. I still need to install the radiator and make some new pipes for it cause well, inlet/outlet pipes on the rad are nowhere near the same as the 400's.. Not too big an issue though.. Now, I was told that I'd have to move my coils up and forward to accomodate the motor, but that's not true either. They fit in there no problem, but I still haven't mounted the carbs or the thermostat housing, so I don't know if there's going to be an issue there yet. The last couple of things to do is put the sprockets & chain on when I receive them, put the relay block on when I receive that and modify my tach housing to fit the 600 tach since those aren't the same layout either..

Other than that, I might have it fired up in the next couple of days or so.. and I'm PUMPED!

Good idea. Thought never crossed my mind. I'd hate like hell to have to tear this motor apart.. I'm done for the night anyways, but when I go out there tomorrow after work, I'll cover em up with the carbs

Well, what a disappointing weekend. I was all pumped to be attending a sportbike rally an hour and a half away from here, my chain/sprockets came in and I found out that on Friday's in July/August we're done work at 4:00.. woohoo.. so I get home, have to finish some things on the bike so I can leave Saturday morning.. take the rear sprocket out of the package and WTF!!!!!!!!!!! it don't fit on the 400 hub.. ahem, I screwed up.. I was under the impression that the 400 & 600 rear sprocket hubs were the same. So here I had ordered a 530 chain, and the front and rear 530 sprockets to go with it... And now I'm stuck with the parts that don't fit. So as good a mood as I had been in, I was in just as an equally shitty mood in a matter of seconds..

So I came on here and couldn't find anyone in the chat, so I called the guy I bought the motor from and he sorta straightened me out on what I needed.. so today (Saturday) I went back and returned the parts I wrongly ordered and now have a 520 DID o-Ring chain sitting in the garage, a 520 FZR600 15t front sprocket enroute and a 44t FZR400 520 rear sprocket coming.. That was the only size we could find.. I know it's not exactly stock gearing, but meh.. I just want to RIDE!!!!!!!!!!! Those should be in Tues/Wed now.. *sigh*.. ahh well..

Anyways, the motor runs, puffs a *tiny* bit of smoke, but not anywhere near enough to be concerned about and seems to clear out as the engine warms up. Got some pics and a short little video of the engine running.. If I'm not back on the road by the middle of the week, I'll be pissed..

I would of mentioned it if you didn't .. Think atleast those fork lowers would compliment the black swingarm . maybe even put a chrome sticker on the forks or chrome tuning forks ..

I liked the white scheme .. But I've always been about the bling


Coming across lovely though.. My biggest problems was being impatient and rushing the jobs

Another day came, another went... still no sprockets from the local shop, however they *should* be in tomorrow according to them..

However, I did put a few more finishing touches on the bike so that when I get the sprockets in, I just have to put em on with the chain and ride away for a little ride
