Due to unforeseen circumstances I don't have a rolling chassis yet. The main reason is that I'm a dumbass. I ordered 2 of the wrong seals and completely didn't order another bearing. I couldn't get my wheel balanced when I got it mounted because of this and I couldn't get a rear wheel on my frame/swingarm. Live and learn I guess.

I do have all the powdercoated bits and its waiting to get put together. Next week when I get back down here hopefully I'll be able to provide an update with a rolling chassis.

Yesterday I was able to powdercoat my rear brake rotor, and get my front end mounted on the frame. I also pressed the 4 bearings I got into the swingarm and got a bunch of the parts together for when I get the rolling chassis. Next Monday should be the day.

Today I got my rolling chassis! I got the rear wheel on the frame with the rotor and the sprocket on. I mounted up the heel guards and the passenger peg mounts. Almost everything on the bike is powdercoated. The washers and nut and bolt head on the rear axle have been powdercoated, the kickstand and the kickstand bolt were powdercoated, the engine arm bolts were powdercoated, the rear brake arm and rear brake support arm have been powdercoated, etc, etc.

I also got to feel my shock work for the first time! Its weird to have something supporting you besides just a spring......

Pics will be up soon, TK has to upload them as they're on his camera..... :-D

Remaining things to be done:
Engine Rebuild
Barnett Clutch Install
Fiberglass touchup on fairings
Painting Fairings
Installing Motor, carbs, gastank, etc and working out the quirks.

Hopefully I don't need to buy anything else for the build because from here on it feels like it should just be the engine rebuild and then piecing it together. Pics coming!

it sucks, the dusty basement atmosphere doesn't really do it justice. It actually looks very nice.

Well then I'm back again. Engine time is upon us. I had a oil leak on the bottom end of my engine so I was just going to replace all the gaskets/seals and call it good. This is how the engine has been sitting for the last few months.

Image

Image

So Nate helped me disassemble the engine tonight. Valve cover came off
Image

Oh sweet, the camshaft is broken! I was running like this for a while I assume. Anyone think I can keep running with it like this?
Image

Here is a non-broken end for reference.
Image

We checked valve clearances which were all in spec and pulled out the camshafts

What's this?
Oh hai wiseco!
Image
Image

Turns out I have the wiseco 630 kit in my bike. The unfortunate bit is that I'll need to get a new head gasket from Wiseco which runs $90! No finished motor this weekend :-( On the other hand it's a nice little gem to find on my bike. Now nate's trying to talk me into a YZF top end...

I ordered a new head gasket from Cometic per Duane's suggestion. Saved $15. Wiseco wanted $10 shipping for the gasket and were charging $10 more than Cometic. I'm taking this weekend off and going to MN to visit some relatives and hit up the state fair, but then the week after that I should be back on track.

I got the head gasket in and powdercoated my cylinder head last night when I was at nate's (in flat black). Mostly everything is ready for the engine to get put back together, its just really hard for me to find time to get down to Nate's house now that school has started again. here's hopin' to have it driveable by november! Just in time to store it......

I am finding how many little things were missing from the bike now that I am putting it back together. Mismatched bolts all over the place, missing washers, rusty this, rusty that, etc.
