Thanks McFizzer! The bike had one previous owner he is 65 and purchased it new! The bike came with the owners manual, i was able to find a service manual on the R1 Forum. One of they keys actually came with the serial number so I can make more if I lose my spare. The bike was meticulously maintained.
You're right about the weight. It's 425lbs wet...a little lighter than the FZR. It's length is a little shorter and a little wider. The turning radius and ground clearance are the same. Height wise it's also a little shorter.Fuel injected! No more choke. From what I've read, I think the 06 is still a 20 valve...I believe it went back to 16 valves in 07. I could be wrong.
Oh...and it's really really quick.

You may be right with the valve thing. Im not for certain but I think YOU may be right on it. I think because in 07 they also did some cosmetic changes too and it carried over to 08. I know 08 is the highest factory hp R1 they made. But the crossplane is just able to put it down to the rear wheel in a more stable way...
Do you have a Slipper Clutch on that too? I would think it'd sit higher then the fzr. I know my friends 08 R6 sits like 2 inches higher then my 1k.... 425 wet mayyy be exgrattated. but i still would think its in the 440 range wet. The bike is smokin man. What type of slip on's is that? also is there the normal PC3 and air filter mods to go with it?

I'm not sure if going 16 vs 20 valve is really any different anyway. . yea, the 07-current have more RWHP..but unless you're racing (which I'm not) it doesn't really matter when I comes down to the general amount of ponnies comming already coming out. I think the 04-06 they changed the frame like you said getting more stability and hp to the rear. Unfortunately, it wasn't til 07 they added the slipper clutch . Speaking of which...what exactly is a slipper clutch or what does it do? I can't seem to find a direct answer. All I've found is that it reduces the heat while the clutch is engaged.

My FZR was raised and I just got my feet on the ground. The R1 I have no issues with getting firmly on the ground. Once again I was just comparing the R1 manual specs to the FZR manual specs.
Those are Boz Brothers cans. I haven't seen another bike with them. I love 'em! They sound amazing! I love the looks...some don't...but it's not their bike . I do have a power commander 3 on there. I don't know about the air filter though...I'll have to look. To be honest I havent' been able to open her up to see just how light the front gets in any gear. I am a little worried, but that might just reminds me to take it easy

A slipper clutch limits the power so to speak when downshifting. Have you ever downshifted hard and felt the rear tire almost kick out? start to spin and go to the right? well what the slipper clutch does is, intermediatly take the power from the downshift and more or less limit the power in burst as to not let the rear tire do that... or as much. the GSXR1000 in 2005 was the first have it standard and along with other things is why it made bike of the year for 2005...a little confused why yamaha didn't make it standerd in 2006 but I do know that the 2006 R1 LE had slipper clutchs, Im not sure if the R6 LE came with it though. Haunter would know.

The whole concept of the slipper clutch is to keep rear wheel traction instead of lock up. I've heard people say they have to use their brakes more (if you're an engine braker) and others say the rear wheel stays planted but their bike will launch you over the bars with engine braking on a downshift. It's a safety and convenience feature

Ahhhh...I remember now seeing something on the discovery channel about slippers and how it was changing racing and making it more safe because of the ability to downshift at higher rpms/speeds. Thanks! Ok..now considering I'm not a racer...is something I should think about adding?? I don't really engine brake unless it's in a hurry...i tend to use the brakes.
