Codename: Panda

Post by thatkid »

It's not too hard to figure out the codename, but I'm not feeling very clever at the moment. This build may go on for a bit. Just depends on how much time I get at the shop to work on it. I have a few others I need to get done this season so we shall see.

The frame- FZR 600

The subframe- 2002 YZF R6

Front Forks- Undecided

Swingarm- 1990 FZR 400

Rear Wheel- Marvic Magnesium 17x5.0 (The weight on this thing is crazy. It's about 3lb for the whole setup.)

Engine- Stock FZR 600

Brakes- 2002 YZF R6 Calipers/front MC. Stock FZR rear MC. R6 rear caliper (I think)

Tank- YZF 750 (This may change, but for now it's the plan.)

Plastics- Hopefully an R6 race tail if I can find one cheap enough. No fairings.

Headlight- Hella Projection bulb with xenon HID setup.

Gauges- 2002 R6 gauge cluster

Exhaust- V&H Supersport header with custom SS2R shorty.

Rearsets- Stock most likely. Perhaps some small mods.

Powder- Just about everything! All(most?) bolt heads and visible nuts will be black chrome.

That's about all I can think of right now as for plans and parts. More to come!

Engine covers in Gunmetal.

SS2R endcap. Not exactly how I wanted it but I'll deal. I don't think it'll be that bad once it's on the can.

Some nice white carb bowl covers. Why not?

The front and rear brake MC's.

Starter is coated gloss black as well.

Front brake calipers are still in progress. Black was the first coat. They still need the "pop" back that they had when they were blue dots.

Oh I still have one to ride. This is just one I decided to do with leftover parts in the shop.

I can't have my panda starving. So a little bamboo inspiration has to be on the bike.
