Pics of my cut-short Roadtrip

Post by Kyle844 »

Well I planned to go ride to the Grand Canyon from Oregon in about a weeks time, this meant averaging only around 300mi a day. Well, First day was cut short by torrential downpours in Oregon where we felt in was not safe to continue until the rain let up. second day we busted out 500mi to get us back on track and then the worst part happened........... I GOT SICK! Luckily Our stop for that part of my trip was a relatives house in central California, ended up spending 2 days there stuck on the couch not able to do much. 3rd day came and i was sick and tired of sitting there wasting my time not riding so we figured out a new plan with our now limited time. We decided to ride through San Fransisco and take the old coast highway all the way back to Oregon. Man, it has some of the most BEAUTIFUL and twisty roads I've ridden on. We then took the redwood highway back into Oregon and retreated home.

P.S. Grand Canyon 1 ~~~~ Kyle 0 :swear

...For now. (I will complete this ride, I have to now, won't let it beat me lol)

Hi,
sorry to hear you got sick and had to for go part of your trip, however you did take the most scenic road home. I have mates in the SF bay area and they are always ranting about how beautiful that stretch is. Glad you got something out of it :-}

Well, looks like you were looking for adventure, and got it!
I'll be toolin' around that neck of the woods later this summer, as I make a long loop of the western half of the country.
Hope you get a chance to complete the ride to the Grand Canyon!

I leave next weekend for a 3-4 month, +15k ride. You can follow it all here: thenextmile.tumblr.com

ps - what kind of pants are you wearing? they look nice and non-bulky. my tourmaster ventures are like parachute pants!

All Original, except for a custom saddlebag set up. A machine shop buddy of mine seamlessly fitted two GS bags on the rear end for last summers ride.
