OK, willdo. It's a remarkably unexciting freezer storage/gym/radio amateur shack/motorbike workshop though.

Work continues. I've been quietly beavering away. Here's the rear wheel stripped, painted with Japlac, and the rims polished. You'll have to forgive the traces of Autosol all over the rim and the tyre :tard:

Next up is to refit the wheel tomorrow so I have a rolling chassis, then I can drop the engine for a rebuild.

OK, the rear wheel is now on. It all needs a proper clean down to get the traces of polish off.

Other than the seat unit and battery housing, that's the entire rear end sorted. Rear brakes are ready, just need bolting on.

Next up is to start getting ready to drop the engine out, so carbs off...

Full strip, clean and rebuild with new seals, float needles, neele, jets, and emulsion tubes ocoming up. I'm going to run pod filters, so I'll probably use a Dynojet kit.

And someone wanted a pic of my garage. well, here it is, or at least the half of it full of FZR...

Image

Apologies for the indifferent quality of the pics. The garage is poorly lit and the flash on my cellphone isn't briliant.

FB,
If you are going to run pods, you need to go to Homebase / B & Q or somewhere similar for PVC pipe the same size as the inside diam of the rubbers that go between carb & air box.

You heat the plastic to slip over the carb mouth and have it long enough to mimic the length of the rubber bit mentioned and then slip the pod over the pipe.

That way you keep the inlet tract length that keep the carbs on the "sweet spot" which is why most individual filter jobs go AWOL.

It is worth noting that on the FZR 400 the racing part number for the air box to carb rubber was 0.5" shorter than the street version I am told.

Ah, a most excellent tip. Thanks Geo.

PS, let me know when you're next due up this way. I have the screen and Rentec carrier put aside for you. I'm due in the body and fender shop to get my arm sorted on 21st January, so I'll be at home for a couple of months.

Apart from the rare Kosinski paint, everything that can't be either polished or chromed will be black.

The rear arm is from an FZR1000, pre EXUP IIRC.

I do indeed fart blood. It is an excellent party trick!

Radiator now off. I'm probably going to bin the fan, which didn't work anyway, and fit a larger rad, probably from a ZX6R or ZX7. If I do, the ultra exclusive radiator cover, courtesy of an engineer friend of Y-George's, will probably be for sale.

Image

The thermostat and pipework is now also off, ready for the metal inlet pipes to be painted. Next is to remove the ignition coils, label the wiring, drop the oil then remove the motor.

And yet more shinyness. Repainted sprocket cover and tank brackets, and a plethora of new gaskets, fork seals and exhaust studs waiting for fitting.
