Looks like it turned out pretty well expect for that rounded bottom. The finish doesn't look too bad either. What do you think is causing the .5mm variance? If you get a chance, try to get some closed cell foam and get something milled out. If that turns out well perhaps I could send you some files.
And the anodizer sounds cool. What is involved in making that?

meh, the .5 (it's actually less I just can't remember exactly without going back into the garage) is probably just alignment of the linear shafts.. we had to pull the "Y" table apart yesterday and one of the bearings moved while doing that. it's not a *huge* deal, but it's something I should look at fixing. The machine's definitely going to need some re-inforcment to be cutting metal all the time, and the set-screws holding the threaded rod onto the motor shafts is already becoming an issue.. That needs attention as well.... But all in all I'm surprised at the accuracy and ease that this thing has shown me.

What type of foam were you thinking of? I can do up something then see what happens when I cut it.. Unfortunately, I think it'll make more of a mess than anything with the cutter I'm using.. it spins at 30k rpm, and from what I've read it'll likely rip the foam to bits.. But hell, I'm willing to give it a whirl.. :)

As for the anodizer, go here:

Pretty much sums up the process.... for coloring of the aluminum, I've read people have used food coloring... IDK

And here my first finished product:

R6 Shock dogbones & spacer - FZR400

The the finish on the metal can be polished or whatever and I might even anodize em.. They're not 100% perfect, but they're almost the same dimentions (thickness and width) as the stock ones.. they're also a little thicker, so that'll help alleviate any of the dimension offsets.. The spacers are damn near spec as per dru86's post regarding these spacers though..

As for the Spacers for the 600, that can be done very easily, however I just need a little thicker of aluminum to make them..

Next up is going to be a dash cover for the FZR400 since I've got the rubber one off my bike right now and I'll be doing some measurements today... The one for the 600 will come very shortly as well.. They'll include all mounting holes pre-drilled to mount into the stock screw locations. I'm not sure what thickness the ones on ebay are, however I'm likely going to make these out of 1/8" thick 6061 aluminum. Yes, 6061.

After that I'll be making custom FZROnline engraved Master cylinder covers and from there if anyone wants anything done up, just send me a request and we'll go from there.

you have a lot of drive for sure. $950 ????? $235 ????? that crap is WAY too expensive. damn Chinese. I guess i don't need those passenger pegs so badly after all, plus you'd have to mill them out of some much thicker material ... no ?

oh. that was for the 1/4" thick x 4' wide x 12' long sheet.. lol... If I needed that size, and knew I would use it all and make stuff to sell with it I would have bought it... :) But I'm not sure how/if I'm gonna end up doing alot of this stuff and making a little side $$$ while doing it so I opted to start with a small piece and see how it went.

There's plenty of other places to get the stuff from, just physically have to get it.. I can at least start on the drawings for items and then worry bout the materials.
