1989 FZR1000 parting out

Post by Bad Kaw »

Hello, this is a 1989 FZR1000 for sale. Here are the details.
Hasn't been started for 5 years, so it will need "all that" (battery, carb clean, etc...).
Another thing in the 'bad' column is that the plastics are all scratched up; the upper has about an inch missing off the left side (see pics).
The good:
V&H billet clutch basket
SuperTrapp stainless-steel slip-on
Corbin gun-fighter
new chain and sprockets
Lindeman Engineering front forks
Braided steel brake lines

I have a slew of photos, just to try to be fair and open about the condition of the bike. The quick question is that is there a minimum number of posts that I need to make in order to post photos?
Anyway, $1500 for the bike. I'd LOVE to post pics! :nopic and if there is no interest you can have your stab at the parts individually as I will part it out on eBay.

Thanks, and great site ... can somebody describe to me how to post pics??? :tks:

Okay, I have the photos loaded onto a photobucket account, then I clicked "Img" and this (above) is what I see. Clearly, I'm doing something wrong, anybody got a second to steer me down the path of enlightenment? I'd appreciate it. banghead

Oh, and naturally, the "Img" things didn't appear above ... but I could see them when I tried to put the pictures on. *sigh*!!! ... is it 'beer-thirty', yet? :headscratch:

Open a post on this site where you want to put your image.

Go to your photobucket account and when you mouse over a picture, an icon will appear in the top right of the pic. Mouse over the icon and then when the menu appears, click on "Get Links". This icon appears when you are looking at the thumbnails in a library, don't open the picure (make it full size on your screen).

When the pop-up appears, click on the box under "IMG Codes". A little box should temporarily appear that says "Copied". If not, just highlight all of the code in the box under "IMG Codes" and hit ctrl-v (control - C on your keyboard). This is the copy shortcut.

Then go back to your post on this site that you are composing and hit ctrl-V (Paste)

Okay, that worked. Thanks pefrey!!!
Here is the run-down: it is a complete 89 FZR1000; parting out. Details are on first post and since it didn't sell as a complete bike I'll put the parts on eBay. Parts will go up on Thursday evenings until all are gone. Parts will start at one penny with no reserve.

Here's something I wonder about: as you can see most of the plastics are scratched, do you guys think I should offer the plastics as a bundle? Like R & L side panels together to sweeten the deal since shipping is going to suck? Also, if any of you have any parts you'd like to specifically see go up sooner than later, just let me know.
Here is a link to the seat, which is up now and ends Sunday: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330936278372?ss ... 1555.l2649

I have about 10 - 15 more items going up today and hopefully will have the rest of the bike up by next Thursday. Items that are for sure going up today: headlights, gauges, radiator, CDI box, fuel pump, tail light, air-snorkels, coils and wires, choke cable. Thanks a lot for the help. Let me know if I can be of help.

What's the current status of this? Do you have a current list of what is left?

Thanks.

Well, I've got some stuff left. Here is a link to the fuel tank: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330964999148?ss ... 1555.l2649

If you go to that sale, then you can go into my other sales and see what's going on. Currently it appears as if the fuel tank is going to go for $50 and the frame and engine cases are not going to be bid on. Remember, I start everything at one penny, no reserve, and I let everything go. The perfectly good gauges went for $1.25 and $18 shipping ... less than $20 shipped to his door ... un-believable :swear http://www.ebay.com/itm/330938536885?ss ... 1561.l2649 I think the winning bidder thought that I wasn't for real, he sent me a message offering to give me more money after he got the gauges and was just over-the-moon about the deal ... it is what it is.

Good luck to any bidders, thanks and hollar at me if you have any questions.

The very last of the FZR1000 parts are now up. The upper fairing is there: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330988910529?ss ... 1555.l2649
as well as: Oil pump and pick up assembly, cam chain and tensioners, carb intake manifolds, starter motor, complete headlight assembly, and the engine cases and frame.
Nothing there is pulling over $10 at the moment, everything starts at a penny, some items are still a penny. Good luck guys, hope you get what you want.
