FZR600r rear suspension issue

Hi all,

Ive recently noticed my rear shock was leaking its juices all over my belly panel and so presumed it was new rear damper time. It currently has a standard rear shock (not thundercat shock) and i know a lot of people upgrade to the R6 shock.
However, when I dismantled the rear linkages i notices my dog bones were stamped with 3GM not the 4JH which the bike is. After looking on the forums it turns out these are off a FZR1000 with a much larger distence between the two holes. (I would presume this is lowing the bike)
Could anyone please tell me the correct lengh (from center of eye to eye) to which my bike should have? I thought the bike looked a little low but im 100% sure these dog bones must have some effeect on the handling and i would like to get it back to stadard as i do not need the bike lowered (quite the opposite!)

Attatched are some photos of the dog bones, yes someone previously must painted them orange :S no idea why.

Finally, what do people suggest about the rear shock replacement. I like to keep the bike as standard as possible but finding a replacement rear shock seems to be rather tricky.

have alook at this,

quad length dog bones to fine tune ride hight.

at lest you know that you will be running near to OEM with either a 5/18/25/40mm hight.

i run with the 40mm option and it really helps "tip in" on the corners!!

Cheers crowe, ive ordered some now so should be coming soon.
I finally got my extender bracket for the R6 shock (cost me almost as much as the shock!) but now its all on looks great. However, the damn back of the damper rubs on the rear mud guard! Im just hoping it is because the previous owner had put the lower dog bones so willl see when my new ones come!

Yikes, I hope you're not into this for too much $$$. several members here sell the R6 shock AND dogbones for less than $150 shipped. It may not be stock but it is a very very easy swap and is damn close to stock looks/fittament with just a hair better performance and much better longevity.

All together it has cost me about £150 for everything including new dog bones rear shock and bracket. I read about the kits on here but as they are mostly in America and me living in england shipping brings the costs to about the same :/ Will post some pics of the final assembly when i get back to my home.

Projection components do lots of bits and pieces including what you have. They will also custom make quite a few bits aswell.

Got all the rear suspension parts to fit the 07 R6 rear shock to my 3TJ and some 20mm jack up dog bones from them.

Ah, OK. Your location isn't listed in your profile so I had no way of knowing. Glad it all worked out for you though.
