seat lock key

this not for a question about the fzr but in general my 636 seat lock came with no key...it was $10 so i could'nt pass it up. can i buy a new key from kawasaki or are they all different? if they are all different should i take it to lowes or somthing to have them cut me one or a true locksmith?

thats all i need to make my tail fully funtional.

Look at the lock and see if there is a number code on it. A dealer should be able to get a key if there is one. If not, your going to need to take it to a locksmith. Call around first though as not all of them work on bike parts. It took me two days once to find someone who could make a copy of the ignition key for mine.

The other thing to do is dismantal the lock and drill it out so any key will work. Naelsas web site talked about doing that for the tank conversion.

thanks ill try that.. looks like they sell a blank key for $8...maybe it opens the seat lock up since its shown with the seat lock also.
