CAN U FIX WATER PUMP FZR600 '89?

My waterpump is leaking, mechanic said I should get a new one, anyone know if it's possible to FIX a waterpump?

Depends what part is broken? Can you get a picture of the damage?

I'll try and get a picture when I take it off.
Right now it's just leaking from the bottom and the bike overheats, so I thought I could just replace seals but the mechanic told me I should replace the whole water pump assembly.

also anyone know if the other years will fit on a 1989?
