i have replaced my stock horn with a dual toan boat horn off of a friends boat. and it isnt quite as loud as it should be. just wondering if i was to add say a 40-80 amp relay to it with thicker wire if that would help make it louder? also my hedlights dont seem to be working like they should. at a stedy speed at night i notice they go from being pretty bright to being dim and back to bright that happens every few minutes. idk if adding a realy to that would help of if it is a different problem all together. i know engines and leaning a little electrical as i go just dont want to go cutting and adding things and spending money on stuff that isnt going to change anything.

The thicker wire will carry the ampage thats needed to power the horn. Try the horn connected direct to source...you'll soon see the difference. I had a similar problem with one I wanted to fit to a car...gave up in the end and left it standard. CBA

I think you have

a) a connection issue between the stator output and the voltage regulator/rectifier(VR)

b) a ground issue between the VR and chassis

c) a failing VR.

That's what I was thinking with the vr and the horn I have a 10 ga wire for poer. When I plug it to the battery I is pretty loud. I'm try a 80 amp relay and see if that heps. But thanks for the advice.
