Morning all, as the title states I have never owned a Yamaha before (not sure why, but thats fixed now) but purchased an FZR600 racebike yesterday so thought i'd pop in and sign up.

Brief intro - the name is Dave and I am from Norwich. Just finished rebuilding and tidying up my 94 ZXR750R Kwak and was looking for something else to occupy my shed time. The increased paranoia for my licence engendered by the fact the Kawasaki is very fast and very loud made me think I wanted to get out on track. I visited a couple of Club meetings and found a series which is technologically interesting and with a great spirit of cameraderie in the paddock called Thunderbikes, and started looking for a bike that qualified. ( http://www.thunderbikeuk.com/ )

As you can see, the machine eligibility criteria for the series is intriguing. There are guys racing Guzzi MGS01's, 89' ZXR750's, Big bored SV650's, CBR600's and even a guy (who does very well indeed) on an 85 FZ750. I was initially looking for a ZXR750 to race as well, being a bit of a kawasaki fanboy, but one bike missing from the grid is an FZR600, so when I spotted one I went and checked it over and picked it up (with a large amount of spares) for not a lot of money.

Here she is.

Some crash bungs and an oil catch tray and she is good to go.

Hi,
Bloody hell another Englishman  the second to join in the last week ClapHands

The other new boy is in Cambridge and I'm in West London and officially the oldest FZR'er on the list Nerd

If we rope in some more FZR stragglers we might just get our own UK ride out section LoL

Welcome aboard the tech guys will keep you busy <BG>

The mini belongs to the guy who has the garage next to mine, its fairly nicely modded.

My four wheel fun (that I spent today blasting around the countryside in) takes the shape of this locally brewed cocktail of plastic & metal.

I grew up a couple of villages away from the factory. About 5 miles away. :headbang:

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Looks like a nice bike. They are super easy to modify so go nuts.

The car, on the other hand, reminds me of the dune buggy that had guest appearances on Scooby Doo. I can't say I like the look, but kudo's on keeping it looking that nice for a '72.
