Ice Tires

Post by Szucs »

Anyone ever stud their tires for ice? I'm looking for advice on length of studs to use. Most pics I see look like 1" - 1.25" machine screws. I figure if they get too long, they will start to put a lot of momental stress on the tire itself. But I guess it depends on how hard the ice is too. These long winters are getting harder to bear.

I think there is a guy over on Custom Fighters forum that makes them for people. I'm sure he can help.

I'll try to find his name and post a link here, but I would go to that site and look around for it.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

that is evidently a more serious set up, but it looks more like a rivet than a screw.

All Original, except for a custom saddlebag set up. A machine shop buddy of mine seamlessly fitted two GS bags on the rear end for last summers ride.
