200 insurance, crash story too.

Well, I took a big spill today. Went over an apex slid out my back wheel, brake wasn't braking, the wheel was sliding, crashed into a guardrail at 50 mph. Lowsiding on my right side, I hit my knee first, then my ass, did a front flip on the dirt, then did a flip hitting my helmet on the pavement and slid on my ass and elbows for a bit, and ended up in the middle of the road. Moral to this story I wore gear, a one piece leather suit, boots, gloves, and helmet. That one piece saved my nubbins, no question. I spent 150 bucks on it at Cyclegear, it saved my knees, my ass, and my hips. They're having a sale on the suits for 199 at cyclegear for the next while. Everyone, and I mean everyone should own one. My back doesn't even hurt, nor anything below my left hip. I wasn't wearing riding boots, I was just wearing leather shin high work boots. I came out worse for the wear.

The bike, first thing I said to my Dad. "I dont think the bike looks any different". I had previously taken off all the front fairings because I was painting them.

All in all I turned out alright. My first crash ever.

Man, that sucks. Get back up on the thing as fast as you can. And start to take some pain meds tonight (asprin, tylenol, alive) because your going to be sore tomorrow.

My leather jacket saved me from a bunch of rash and my helmet saved my life when I went down.

Glad you made it out relatively unharmed.

Glad to hear you made it out with only minor issues.

I assume you're talking about Frank Thomas gear for $150. If you're on a budget, then they are certainly better than nothing, but if you can spend more money, go for a higher quality suit - especially if you intend on doing Track Days.
