Hi,
well the 1K swing arm bolt in has been rubbished, but since a lot of you dead jealous of Tony's fat rear end, perhaps it is time to start breaking down what is required to do this mod right.
We now think that the 1K swing arm is 241.3mm across the pivot end
(still puzzles me as to why such an odd number even for Yamaha )
we also know for a fact that 600's & 400's have a frame throat that accepts 220mm
What we need to KNOW is how much each end of the pivot material was removed from each side so that
A} the chain lines up straight
B} the wheel sits in the frame on the center line

what we need george is a 1k swinger sent to me free of charge and i will take measurements pictures of both ,i will strip down and take picks and measure all spacers and all that is needed for this swap this may be the best way as i will have the stock 1k swinger to compare with

OK.... I've got some info about the 1992 fzr 1000 swingarm and wheel.
A) width of the inside of the swingarm where the wheel's axle gets in is 267 mm.
B) width of the wheel with sproket carier on, from bearing to bearing is 210 mm.
C) each side wheel spacer's width is 13 mm.
D) caliper bracket's width is 27-28 mm.
E) A)+B)+C)+D) = 264 mm.
F) A)- E) = 3mm (calculated error by Yamaha so you can slide the whole wheel assembly in)
I did all these measurements on a 1992 fzr 1000 that i have in my garage.
I am also thinking about a mod i could do to my stock 600 swing arm to slide a fzr 1000 wheel in. I will post a scheme of what i intend to do.

Thanks George from the other one :-}
TG, what we need also is:-
G} the width of the pivot point with dust covers on and with them off,
H} pivot bolt diameter
J} pivot bolt sleeve diameters(inner & outer) & length
K] length of pivot bolt centre to centre of rear axle when at mid adjustment of chain.
PUT the info under 92 FZR 1K in the WIKI

that info i do not know for sure if i can provide, as the bike is not mine and i do now wish to take the swingarm off without letting the owner know first before i do it. i'll do my best!

hi guys not yet stripped swinger but just for curiosity measured 600 swinger with wheel on look at picture above trigs i measured the clearance from the tire to the swingarm it is 10mm on the rh side and 30mm on the left hand side it may vary with what ever tire you have on but this reveals a designed offset in the swingarm this may be the answer to my chain alignement as on the 1k it measures equal

i must disagree with you Tony. the non modified fzr 1000 swinger has 42 mm on each side of the wheel (measured from the 180/50/17 tyre to the swinger). in this picture, the arrows show where i did the measurements. i can guarantee for these measurement with my head.

. these measurements proove that there is no designed offset in the swingarm.

sorry trig you mis read i said the 600 swinger has the offset the 1k we know is equal as this is maybe why the chains alignes with my swap
