what has everyone done for a speedometer/odometer when you swap a front end out of the fzr600? i know i cannot use my speedo cable anymore but is everything controlled thru that? i need to know how many miles i ride and if i get the bike inspected ill need somthing else.

what ya guy come up with? i need somthing simple and easy and not costing a ton.

I think we need a sticky someplace of what people have done since its more involved then just swapping forks and a wheel.

ok i am going with a bicycle speedometer. i do not feel like spending $250 for a R6 digital gauge swap when i can do the same thing for $10-$20 thru walmart...i can buy alot of speedometers for $250! i am keeping the stock fzr gaguges i just need speed a distance traveled to keep track of oil changed.

Im using an ElectroSport digital speedo. It has a reed switch sensor and also has all the indicator lights and a tach as well as odometer and all that other good stuff. its a standalone and can replace all the guages and only cost me about $130 for the complete setup. I also got one with a fuel guage on it to set up with my YZF tank.

Abs,
Why cannot use the speedo cable ? and yes you speed & distance come thru that.

I have ducati front end on a bike with suzuki wheels (the bike is a yamaha ) with third party guages and i use the speedo cable all I did was fit a peg in the fork end to stabilise the drive gear hub & pick up the drive in the wheel hub as normal

my 2006 zx6r front end does not have room or connections for a speedo cable. those bikes were all digital speed senors. i have no room to mount and use it either.

I've seen a few of those on ebay as well. I thought about doing this on my fzr as well.

I've got a wireless one for my pedal bike, works great and no wires to get caught and snap.
