Yamaha Engine Identification

Post by jun »

Hello I have a quick question I haven't been able to find the answer to. I'm trying to identify the engine in my FZR400. The engines serial is as follows: 5AH 031299. Above the oil filter on the block reads: Y-2 4JH01 598cm3.

I have found this site very helpful I will post a proper introduction when I get some pics of the bike. Thanks you!

EDIT: It's in a 1989 FZR400 US so I guess that makes it a 1WG??

From a quick check of the parts fishe it looks as if that is a YZF600 (not R6) motor in there (at least part of it anyway)
